.Town employees will negotiate raises
Any town employee who feels he is per-
forming duties other than those in his job
description will have a chance to be
reviewed and renegotiate his wages at an
administration and ,personnel committee
meeting on Jan. 23.
"Various employees are looking for in-
creases because they feel .their jobs have.
changed. We'd like to know how they've
changed to assist us in evaluating their
wages," said Conn. Bill Clifford at
Goderich s " '1's Jon. 20 meeting.
Int • . iew times have been set up to ask
emp r yees how they view their jobs and to
ask • ment heads to evalualte how
employees ' : # • ir, jobs, added Clifford.
"We see this as good for morale when

there's a consultation between department
heads and employees about any inequities
among employees," said Coun. John Str-
inger.
Coun. Jim Searls said he thought only
department heads, not employees should
be defining job descriptions.
"It's peculiar where an employee
describes what he ought to do. Maybe he
should be told what to do.," agreed Coun.
Glen Carey but he agreed with the process
when he learned the committee had'
received correspondence from several
employees about their job responsibilities.
. "Sortie. employees may feel they're do-
ing duties over and above what they were
hired to db. I think it's a good route," said
Mayor Eileen Palmer.
