A custodian at St. Mary's School in Goderich for 16 years, he had previously worked on the railroad. He retired in June. 1981. Born in London on June 3, 1916, he was a son of the late Joseph Martin Burke and Dorothy Kennedy. He married Norma P. Ritchie, of Kincardine at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Goderich on September 22, 1956. He is survived by his wife, a "daughter Verlaine Marie and her husband. Jerry Frank Steegstra of Kitchener and a brother,. William P. Burke of Goderich.. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothj• Pfrirnmer and his parents. The funeral mass was conducted from St. Peter's Roman Catholie Church in Goderich on Tuesday, December 24, 1985 at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. Joseph Hardy, celebrant.. Prayers were said at the, McCallum Fdineral Home on . Monday evening, December 23. 1985. ' Pallbearers were Peter Sturdy, Joe Dur- nin, Pat Kennedy, Doug Blacker, Jim Brunk . and Ralph Weigel. RUSSELL CLARENCE BENTLEY Russell Clarence Bentley of HuronvieR', formerly of Clinton, Blyth and East Wawanosh Township, died in Huronview on December 31. He was 87. Born in East Wawanosh Township on March 20, 1898, he •was the son of the late Jonathon Bentley and the late Sarah Jane Blackbrough. He married the late Edna , May Armstrong at the United Church manse in Londesboro on October 1, 1919. Mr. Bentley farmed in East Wawanosh Township for many years. He was a veteran -of, World War 1, having been a member pf the 161st Regiment of the Canadian Army. He is survived by one son Roy Bentley of Goderich and one daughter Hazel (Mrs. An- thony Mladenich) of Warren, Michigan, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral and . committal service were held at the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, .Clin on January 2. Officiating was Captain Wendy Johnstone of the Salvation Army in Goderich.
