GODERICH , 524-2424 SANTA CLAUS RETIRES It is hard to believe but it is true. Here are some newspaper headings about this. Santa Retires, London Free Press, Santa hangs up his hat, Toronto Star, Many kids sad over Santa's retirement, Goderich Signal Star, Efjlkdk jlkdfjl from the China Town Press. You're probably wondering who was go- ing to take Santa's place? Well it is a robot named H79 -ZD. You also might be wondering who I am. Well, I'm Pixy, the last of Santa's elves. Everyone else has been replaced by robots. Meanwhile at the North Pole about one week before Christmas, H79 -ZD was putting all the things that kids wanted on his com- `k puter. Santa was a little mad at this because he read everyone and remembered what the kids wanted in his head. He was also mad because H79 -ZD fired all the elves except for me and replaced them with machines which made all the toys but Santa just let H79 -ZD do his work anyway. Now it is Christmas Eve d is relaxing but H79 -ZD is red to blow a e. He still has to put the in the jet powered sleigh (because he's of going to use the reindeer), sort -out t presents, make sure he didn't miss anytthi._..gg on the computer and put the presents in t'be bag and onto the sleigh. Well somehow H79 -ZD got this all done but then he blew a fuse and could not be fixed. No one knew what to do but I got an idea. We'll get Santa Claus to do it. So quickly I told him what had happened and he was happy to do it and told me to hitch up the reindeer and he'll be off. And off he wes as quick as a wink. That next morning all the children were much happier when they saw: From Santa on the card instead of From H79 -ZD. Santa was also much happier knowing that children still believed in him. So he hired all the elves back again and fired the robots and he said he would always deliver the presents to children yn Christmas Eve for ever and Ever. by Robbie Dempsey Grade 8 Robertson P.S.
