CHRISTMAS IN THE YEAR 2000
It was December 24th, 2000. We were just
about to have an evening snack when there
was a news flash across the home computer
system. It said to pay attention to the follow-
ing message: Ronald Reagan, our very.
long-time President, say§ he has plans to
launch a major attack on Russia. The
screen flicked off, but for some reason
everybody just kept gazing at it.
After I thought about it, I said, "Why does
the President have to demolish the earth
and tell everyone his plans, especially on
Christmas Eve?"
I left the gloomy kitchen and descended
into the big armchair next to the warm glow
of the fireplace in the den. I just couldn't
believe that he would launch a nuclear war
with Russia, especially when there had been
extensive television shows about nuclear
war and its effects.
Mom came in the room and told me not to
worry about things and to get to bed so I
would be ready for tomorrow. I thought to
myself, "Why do I have to be ready for
tomorrow when I might not even be here?"
As I sank into my air -bed, I turned over
and pressed the light -control button on my
many function computer panel beside my
bed to turn off the lights. 1 tried to think of
more pleasant things to get myself to sleep.
I was looking forward to that nine -course
meal tomorrow. Luckily, a couple of years
ago, a new pill came out called "Eater's
Digest". One of those pills, taken after a
huge meal, digests your food for you within
minutes. No more hours of waiting to get
over that stuffed feeling. Dad thinks they
are a great invention.
I also thought about that solar -powered
space shuttle I had asked for for Christmas.
Grandpa and Grandma think it is terrible
for "toys" like that to be sold for children.
Back in the seventies and eighties, I guess
they were lucky to get even a simple com-
puter for Christmas. The space shuttle only
ascends to 1,000 feet and comes straight
down again so there's really no danger of
running into anyone.
Church was the next thing that came into
my mind. I could see us all in church tomor-
row, giving thanks and thinking of Jesus'
birth but there wouldn't be that same hap-
pipess we shared other years as Reagan's
announcement would change that.
Sleep finally came....and so did Christmas
Day, 2000 - another day in this world to be
thankful for.

THE LARGE GLOWING CIRCLE
CHRISTMAS EVE, 1814
The Treaty of Ghent had just been signed
and the war had ended. All the people were
rejoicing everywhere but at the North Pole.
Santa was racing frantically to get all the
lists checked off. Santa and his elves finally
were ready and Santa was off.
It was a nice clear night and in the
distance, Santa could see a large, glowing
circle.
As he came closer it started to pull him in
closer and closer until he could not turn
back. When he was in, he could see nothing
but streaks of light zooming by him as
though he were travelling at the speed of
light. Finally, he was out, but out where, he
wondered.
He looked around and saw extremely tall
and sharp buildings and knew he was either
in another world or IN The Future... (185
years to be precise). When he finally realiz-
ed where he was, he looked around for direc-
tions... (or another hole) . As he was looking
around, he came across a man with a rocket
pulling a sleigh full of computers, software
and hardware for all the children. He was
dressed in glittering red and white.
Santa asked this man how he could get
back. He said "There is a large, glowing cir-
cle on the other side of the planet." Santa
was very grateful and was gone.
In no time, Santa was there and saw the
large, glowing circle: -----
He Went in and saw the same streaks of
zooming light but going the opposite direc-
tion. Finally, he was out. He checked the
town clock and it was only 12:01 a.m. It had
been as if he were gone for hours but in ac-
tual fact, he was only gone 2 min.
Everything went well, all the presents
were delivered and everyone was happy.
Santa told his wife and the elves what had
happened but no one believed him so he
thought he must have just dozed off in the
sleigh.

CHRISTMAS IN THE YEAR 2000
THE ROBOT'S FIRST CHRISTMAS
Santa's reindeers are old and tired now
and cannot land as softly on the roof -tops, or
glide as swiftly over the trees, so he got
robot reindeers. The leader is Rudolph the
Red nose Robot, then Dasher. Dancer.
Prancer, Vixen, Comet Cupid, Donner and
Blitzen.
Rudolph the Red nose Robot, had a red
light bulb for a nose and the rest of him was
steel.
Well, all Rudolph wanted was a heart for
Christmas. Everyone who asked him,
"What do you want for Christmas
Rudolph?" He would answer, "A heart so I
can have feeling of joy, happiness and
sadness, just like a real reindeer."
Well, finally it was Christmas eve and all
through Santa's workshop all the elves were
rushing around putting all the robots gifts
under their tree. Then, before midnight they
brought the robots in to open their presents.
Rudolph was the first to open his and tore
the wrapping off and opened up the box and
there lay a beautiful red heart with a white
ribbon to attach it.
Rudolph was very happy and excited all
the, night while they glidded over the roof-
tops and treetops. It was Rudolph's first
Christmas and it was his happiest.
