CHRISTMAS IN GERMANY
(Froehliche Weihnachten)
In some German homes all the members
of the family have a Christmas tree.
The Germans have a craving for a candy
called Marzipan or Lubecker marzipan.
Marzipan is a kind of almond candy that
can be coloured and shaped to look like
meat, fruits, or t®ys.
German families often make their own
gifts. Women and girls may spend weeks
embroidering handkerchiefs, or sofa
cushions.
Boys often carve figures of men and
animals from wood, and paint them in gay
colours.
