Children's Little Theatre
The Goderich Children's Little Theatre presented two plays at Robertson School Saturday,
Reindeer on the Roof and Angel in the Looking Glass. In the above phot, Steven Sturdy as
Eddie Stevens and his sister Mary portrayed by Jacki Rau discuss the family's Christmas
display with their parents Mr and Mrs. Stevens played by Becky Penn and Robbie Demp-
sey. In the second production, Angel in the Looking Glass, Melanie Hollingworth played
Lucy a young girl while Jenny Hayter and Kathy Jo Wagler tried to get their aunt, Kim

Residents vote to repeal Temperance

The skating season opened Thursday of
last week under the management of Jno. W.
igie. There was a large attendance and

fine for skating.
The attendance at the gospel service in
Temperance Hall, Saltford, last Sunday
afternoon, showed a growing interest and
appreciation on the part of the residents.

Goderich school children enjoyed a holi-
day this week to celebrate the royal wedding
of the Duke of Kent and Princess Marina of
Greece.
Ex -Mayor E.R Wigle is spear -heading an
attempt to organize a junior hockey team in
Goderich for the coming season.
Maple Leaf Chapter IODE has decided to
furnish a children's ward at Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital. The donation
will be made in the name of Enlillie Jeffrey,
first regent of the chapter.
After two years in municipal politics,
Councillor Fred Seabrook, chairman of
finance, has announced that he is withdraw-
ing from the field.

25 YEARS AGO
Residents of Huron and Pereh Counties on
Monday voted decisively in favor of repeal-
ing the Canada Temperance Act under
which they have been for the past 45 years.
The death sentence of Steven Truscott will
commuted by the Fedet•al Cabinet if such
action becomes necessary. Justice Minister
Fulton said on Tuesday that Prime Minister
Diefenbaker had already made that point
clear.
In recognition of his record of outstanding
service, Bill Anderson of the Goderich
Jaycees was presented with a membership
in the Senate of Junior Chamber Interna-
tional on Saturday.
When the Midland Prince, large self -
unloading boat, arrives at Goderich harbor
this weekend, she will be the last boat in for
the season for a cargo from the new salt
mine here.
5 YEARS AGO
Usborne Township Reeve Bill Morel), ac-
cepted the warden's chain of office at Tues-
day's inaugural session of Huron County
Council. Morley defeated- Tuckersmith
Township Reeve Ervin Sillery and Goderich
Reeve Eileen Palmer on the first ballot to
take over the warden's chair from Hay
Township Reeve Jack Tinney.
The Huron County Board of Education
and its 258 secondary school teachers settled
on a 1979-80 contract Monday calling for a -
seven per cent increase for teachers.
That jolly old gent himself was in
Goderich Saturday and held court M th
Park Theatre. His arrival was preceded b
the town's annual Santa Claus parade which
this year consisted of over 35 floats and en-
tries. Hundreds of kids and their parents
braved chilly winds to line The Square and
watch the parade.
