was served to all the choir members. fund
their huslands,and wives. This was tirst
time the' ladies had worn their 'new long
gowns at,MacKay Centre. These dresses are
a rose shade of polyester with darker rose
boleros and the leen wear matching ties. It
was also a very important occasion fer the
MacKay Choristers because they were us-
ing the risers purchased with the New
Horizons grant.
In the evening, the choirs entertained at
the variety concert. Fordyce Clark acted as

-chairman. The "concert opened with 0
'' Canada; followed by the St. Marys Choir
under the leadershi of Elizabeth Pearson.
They sang, "A h Story". This was
made up of several numbers with the choir,
interspersed by readings on the Bible story
and solos. Mrs. Pearson was wearing the
Bicentennial aw she had received from
the Province of,0 rio.
Blake Smith ayed several saxophone
solos. He was accompanied by Irla Stewart
on the piano.
Jean Schram gave a reading with the title,
"The True Meaning of Christmas".
A group of eight ladies and four men from
. the MacKay Choristers sang, "The Twelve
Days of Christmas" and placed the gifts on
top of one another, lifting the small gift to
put a larger one under it until all 12 were in
place.
The Foghorns, in their usual fine style,
played many Christmas numbers ending
with, "We Wish You a Merry Christmas".
The 40 -voice MacKay Choristers, under
the direction of Irla Stewart, then entertain-
ed the audience. Their rendition of the
Christmas,music was excellent and in the
number, '` 0 Holy Night", Jim Baird took a
solo part.
The next numbers were by both choirs

with Elizabeth Pearson ' directing one
number, then Irla Stewart directed the
Foghorns and the massed choirs in several
numbers. It was a stirring conclusion to a
very enjoyable variety concert.
The winners at the card party December
12 were: euchre - Eileen Curran and Bill
McTaggart; 500 - Della Slavin and Jack
Shaw, and lucky draw - Winnie Desjardine,
Elaine Leddy, Marg Brooks and Harold
Larder.
The New Year's Eve celebration will be a
Monte Carlo night. Admission is by advance
tickets only. Call Russel Alton at 4-9096 or
Irene Todd at 4-2280.
