Both players were in top form, as the game advantage swayed back and forth. Doug eventually gained the upper hand and Ben succumbed to his first loss of the season. Later in the even- ing, Ben declared that it was "Black Wednesday" after newcomer Richard Bennett dealt him another blow! Even Louis, the other half of the dynamic Stadelmann duo, was unable to overcome Eric Hallam's aggressive play. It was good, solid chess all the way. The other main item is Dave Brown's first victory, which he scored over Mike Cox. Veteran club member Kirk Lyndon split two games. Barry Page, Walter Gottschalk and Robert Nau had a good evening, each picking up two wins. Bob Dick is cl on the heels of the top spot contended -find John Crawford continues to be a strong force.
