Road accounts in the sum of $12,623.24 and general accounts of more than $100,000 were passed for payment. By -Law 13-84 was given a third reading and finally passed. The original Procedural By -Law was amended slightly by this by- law to alter the starting time of day meetings. Councillor Hickey reportedon the latest Blyth Fire Area Board meeting. The com- plaint of a resident of the south end of West Wawanosh about a fire call to the Blyth Department which they refused to answer was discussed at the meeting. Subsequent to .the Fire Board meeting, West Wawanosh Clerk received a call from the Blyth Fire Chef; who had been investigating the com- plaint for some time and finally was able to etermine what day the call came in and the reason for the non-attendance at the fire. The person who took the call understood the 'caller to say they "were burning a house" but that the Department's services were not immediately required. Chief Blowes regrets the misunderstanding very much, and stated that a misunderstanding on the part of the operator answering thetelephone was exactly what had transpired, and that the Department had not refused to answer the fire call. He noted, again, that his Depart- ment has never refused to answer a fire call and has no intention of doing so in the future, either. Councillor Todd reported on the latest Arena Hoard meeting. The replacement of the Arena has been put on hold for the pre- sent as funding is unavailable. Reeve Aitchison reported that he had hired Tom Nicholson to level and compact the garbage at the dump with his bulldozer. A lengthy discussion about the proposed sewage system for Lucknow (in West Wawanosh) and the immediate steps to be taken by West Wawanosh Council on behalf of its own interests and those of its concern- ed ratepayers, consumed a considerable amount of time. Tenders for the tractor -loader will be opened and considered on December 18. The meeting adjourned to December 18 at 8 p.m. The December session of West Wawanosh Township Council took place Tuesday, December 4. Correspondence included a letter from the Ministry of Transportation and Com- munications regarding rent for office space in the Works, Garage for council, and the clerk. Therate had been $650 per year, and, the Ministry' now informs council that the ,eurrent. ratelrnust be paid, which is $1,260. Rather,..than Pay such a large sum for such a small space, the clerk proposecjthat council consider renovation of the TQgniship Hall in the near future to provide an office and council chambers. No decision was made at this time. A ussion regarding the fate of the Huron unty Pioneer Museum resulted in the cue being directed to inform the Agrictt4 e and Property Committee that West Wawanosh concurs with the commit- tee's ttcominendations - ie: 1. restoration of the (present building) school, re -use of the workshop structure, and substantial recontstruction of the additions to the school in a phased project over five years, at an estimated cost of $2,137,520.; 2. total county contribution to the project be $300,000 per year for five years. (The 1984 figures) estimated cost to West Wawanosh is $5,300 per year.) A motion was passed "That the Township of West Wawanosh hereby requests the Huron . Gunty Planning Department to undertake the development of a Secondary Plan for the Township of West Wawanosh." The Agreement between Ashfield, Kinloss, Lucknow and West Wawanosh for ' operation of the Lucknow Health Centre was discussed. Council will agree to have the agreement signed by the Reeve and Clerk when copies of the following are received: 1. original agreement of 1974; 2. deed of 1974; 3. new deed. The road superintendent discussed fences at the pits which the Ministry of Natural Resources will require to be erected unless "relief from compliance" is requested and granted by them. Snowblowing (if required in '84-'85 season) will be done by the same equipment as '83-'84 season. A grader operator is available for snowplowing (on a casual basis) if required. A motion was passed "That the Township of West Wawanosh hereby authorizes the GODERICH SIGNAL STAR, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 12, 1984—PAGE 9 Now there is a completely new plan to meet all the insurance needs of today's farm owner With the Farm -Guard policy -from The Cooperators yo.0 insure your home. contents. outbuildings, machinery. livestock. produce and supplies Liability is also included the co-opelatols C Itit HANC'E tiE RVIc'E 5 31 WEST ST., GODERICH Call today for information about the many coverages available with Farm.Guard protection JIM BELL BUS: 524-2138 RES: 524-8521 LIFE • HOME • AUTO • BUSINESS • TRAVEL 1 We're at your service OUR EVERYDAY SERVICE PRICES RING CLAWS 4 craws Retipped Eac tihona1 claw GOLD CHAIN Solder WATCH BATTE V INSTALL AT1 RING SIZING Sizing up• first size .
