( photo by Patrick Raftis ) Police News and Views Supect is not a resident The police like to enlist the aid of citizens, especially when they are attempting to pass on information regarding possible crime. However, sometimes innocent persons may be affected by these efforts. Last week, the police enlisted the aid of the public in attempting to trace a black male person driving a blue car with a white top, who had attempted to pick up a small boy during late November. The police have received several calls about a black male driving a blue and white car who has been seen near Victoria School. We do have a few black males residing in our community, one of whom does drive a car with those colors. The male we are look- ing for is NOT one of our local residents. The man seen near Victoria School is merely picking up his own child. He has . advised police that some children and adults are viewing him with suspicion. Spiritual convener, Rita Tigert, suggested that special prayers be said each week for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Clarice Dalton, Pro -Life Convener, aske for prayers and constant awareness of the issues in order to help this cause. It was reported that Linda and Sally V Osch had received County Honours at Achievement Night held in Bruss ls, November 28. A motion was made to purchase at least one cassette of the Holy Father's visit to Canada. These will be made available twin- terested families and groupg. President Betty Lou Dalton thanked the ladies for their service to the C.W.L. In par- ticular, she thanked Kathy Olson for setting up for the dinner - meeting and both Kathy Olson and Joanne Menary for their work with Brownies and Guides. It was noted that further assistance with. Brownies and J So, the police are still looking for a black 'male driving a blue car with a white top BUT it is not one of our local citizens. The suspect is described as 40-45 years old, tall • and skinny. We trust this clarifies the situation regarding this one gentleman. Passing on information to the public is like a two-edg word: if we do NOT pass it out and somet ' happens, then the police would be taken to task for not informing the , public. The other ide of the sword can mean that manLpeoli a may report innocent per- , sons as being a possible suspect. When the cases involve children, it can be , even more complicated because of the way in which information or stories can be exag- gerated and embellished. We are, of course, very concerned for the safety ' of our local children so we shall continue to pass out warnings and try to enlist YOUR aid. 1 - hase cassette Guides would be appreciated. Thanks were also expressed to Father ,Dentinger and Brother Carl for their great help throughout the year. The meeting closed with the presentation of 25 -year membership pins to Clarice Dalton and Mary Clare. HARBOR REPORT BY RON GRAHAM The Algosoo arrived light for salt from Sault Ste.
