La• st Wednesday's club meeting was one
of those rare occasions when every member
played exceptional, tournament -rated
chess. Deep concentration was the rule,
especially in the classic games of Doug
Brindley -Pierre Chagnon; Louis
Stadelmann-John Crawford; Walter
Gottschalk -Barry Page and Ben
Stadelmann-Gerry Ross. Winners were
Doug, Louis, Walter and Ben, but they had
to fight for their victories. Commiserations
to the losers!
Dave Brown has yet to find his first
elusive win. However, he's gaining ex-
perience. Hang in there, pave. Dennis
Luiting played the largest number of
games, including two interesting "head-to-
head" matches against Bob Dick. Robert
Nau elevated himself to the top of the most
improved player level. and Owen Moriarty
had an acceptable' split "double-header".
The club is always looking for new
members, so call Doug Brindley at 524-8674.
