Jersey Club holds banquet
The Perth -Huron Jers Club held their
meetingannual and l uet at Auburn

with the president, H.;ns Bonstoppel of
Aubbrn in charge.'

delicious turkey dinn which was enjoyed
by..al, After dinner,teresting entertain -
me t' was given by % e comedy team, The
Pim Brothers an Shirley of Kirkton. Also
present were t, dairy princesses, Nancy
.I"ohfiston of ' erth County and Diane
Nethery of Huron County.
After the business was concluded, awards
and:trophies were given out. The recipients
of ;some of these awards were Jack Arm-
strong and son Fred Armstrong of R.R. 2,
Auburn, Ron Bowles of Atwood, Lloyd Dale
of Seaforth, Paul Gilham of Atwood, Alex
Ostrom of Varna, Blake Robinson of St.
Marys, Jerry Rykoff of Walton, Tony Van
Dorp of Seaforth, Jack Van Egmond of Clin-
ton and Mrs. Audrey Boonstoppel of R.R. 1,
Auburn.
Election for the new officers was held and
Hans Boonstoppel was returned as presi-
dent; first vice-president, Tony Van Dorp;
second vice-president, Jack Van Egmond;
secretary, Carolyn Van Dorp of Seaforth;
and treasurer, Kathy Newman of Walton.
The meeting was adjourned with the next
meeting scheduled at the home of the presi-
dent, Hans Boonstoppel .next month.
Remember their slogan - Jerseys have all
the extras.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Pink of St. Catharines
visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Emer-
son Rodger for a few days.
Jack Young of Mitchell visited last
ursday with Mrs. Tom Johnston and Miss
ura Phillips.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Adams of Clinton
visited last Sunday with Mrs. Beth Lansing.
' Mr. and Mrs. Clare Rodger, Kathy,
Richard and Darren of Goderich visited last
Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Emerson Rodger.

Members of the Auburn Booster Club are
reminded that their nextmeeting is to be
held at the home of Mrs. Mark Arthur on
december 10 at 8 p.m.
White Gift Service
The annual White Gift Service was held
last Sunday at Knox United Church. The
Sunday school pupils and their teachers at-
tended in a body and the service was led by
the minister, Mr. Gary Shuttleworth. The
service of song was led by the organist, Mrs.
Gordon Gross and the pianist was Mrs. Fred
Lawrence.
The lighting of the first Advent candle was
done by the Sunday school superintendent,
Mrs. Allan Webster. Readings were given
by Anita Gross, Sandra Deveau, Leone
Cummingham, Lorie Armstrong and
Sharon Ramsay. Stephen Millian read the
scripture lesson.
A Christmas play, "What Christmas Is All
About", was done by all the classes and
their teachers. -
The offering was received by Greg Park
and Robert Worsell.
All the children presented mitts, hats and
scarves which were pinned on the
Christmas tree and made a colourful sight.
During the offering a piano duet was
played by Anita and April Gross.
All classes gave a presentation about the
Christmas story.
Beavers .
Recently -the Auburn and Blyth Beaver
colonies met at the Blyth arena for their an-
nual investiture service. After the opening
by Rusty B. (Sharo . ilson) and then the
song , Bubbles (Rose ► e) welcome the

parents and introduced the leaders. They
are Rusty B. - Sharon Wilson, Co
Glousher and Rainbow -

Bubbles introduced the special speaker,
Petunia (Mary Freeman) of Clinton
Petunia is a member of the Service Tea:
She explained to the parents why the leader,
have special Beaver names and then she
conducted the investiture service. She
presented the new Beavers with their
scarves and woggles.
Apple juice, coffee and cake were en-
joyed. The Beavers and leaders would like;
to thank the mothers who worked in the kit-
chen and also the Blyth Legion Branch No.
420, the Blyth Lions Club, the Diet Club and
members of the group committee for their
generous donations to the Boy Scout move-
ment in the Blyth and Auburn district.
Members of the 1st Blyth Beavers are
Jerry Mason, Kevin Hallahan, Chris Lee,
Chris Howson, Michael Laffij, Clint Riley,
Aaron Bromley, Ryan Hallahan, Scott Ar-
thur, Brad Montgomery, John Walden, Dar-
ryl Shanon and Kurt Lentz. The second
Beaver group are Darryl Mayberry, Robbie
Johnston, Jeff Stewart, Steven Stewart, Jeff
Ferguson, Shane Burkholder, Calvin
Schmidt, Ronnie Abell- Rinn, Shawn Clark,
David Campbell, Mark Wilson, Chad Hag-
_ gitt and Michael Bailey.
UCW News
The Penny Contest losing Unit 2 of Auburn
Knox United Church Women served a
delicious pot luck dinner to the members of
Unit 1 at noon on November 27.
The worship service was led by Mrs.
Peter Verbeek and Mrs. Jack Armstrong.
The opening theme, "Kindness", was given
by Mrs. Jack Armstrong, followed by the
singing of the hymn, "Draw Me Nearer",
with Mrs. Emerson Rodger as pianist. Mrs.
Peter Verbeek read the scripture lesson
from Ephesians, fourth chapter and prayer
was said by . Mrs. Armstrong. The medita-
tion on the kindness theme was very infor-
mative.
The offering was received by Mrs. Ruhr
Koopmans and Mrs. Peter Verbeek. The
singing of the hymn, "0 Master Let Me
Walk with Thee", brqught the worship ser-
vice to a close.
Mrs. Donald Haines, the president, open-
ed the business meeting with prayer. Yearly
reports were given by the Unit leaders,
secretary, treasurer and all conveners.
One nundred dollars is to be sent to -the
London Mission and to Alma College. Money
from the penny contest and the special
Christmas offering is to be sent to the
African Relief Fund for Ethiopia.
The refinished chairs of the Sunday school
were admired and thanks was extended to
the committee in charge.
Two poinsettias are to be purchased for
the church for the Christmas season.
Mrs. Marjorie McDougall spoke about the
handwork donations received from Mrs.
Albert McFarlane and Mrs. Elva Straughn
and she also thanked the members of the
Unit for the dinner.
An amaryllis was presented to Mrs.
Elizabeth Plunkett and Mrs. Mary Rollin-
son. Other bulbs were delivered to shut-ins
by Unit 2 members.
All joined hands and repeated the Lord's
Prayer in unison and the meeting was dos-
ed.
