Dungannon. Agiicultural Society decides to increase hall rental fee
The Dungannon Agricultural Society held
the last general meeting of 19$4 at' the hall
on Tuesday, November 27, MUM members
attending.
It was reported that the November 10 Flea
Market, held at the hall, was well received
by both buyers and sellers. Seventeentables
offered a wide variety of items while the
Dungannon C.G.I.T. looked after a much en-
joyed lunch
n-joyedlunch booth.
Thirteen representatives, including Fair
Queen Susan Brindley, attended the annual
supper and meeting for Agricultural
Societies in District 8, held in Exeter,
November 6. At that time, approximately
300 members voted to have Dungannon host

LaVerne and Dorothy Pentland have
returned to their Detroit home from a 17 -day
tour of several countries of the Orient. The
tour 'vas sponsored by the Masonic Grand
Lodge of Michigan. The weather was
perfect for visits to Japan, Taiwan, Hong
Kong, the Chinese .Mainland and Bangkok,
Thailand.
Upon their return, they were feted by
family and friends in the Wine Cellar of the
Royal Touch Restaurant, Fraser, Michigan
to commemorate their fiftieth anniversary.
Greetingsh,vere received from Governor
James Blanchard of Michigan and Presi-
dent and Mrs. Ronald Reagan.
Dorothy and LaVerne have two children,
Pamela Biloy of Mt. Clemens and Robert of
Kalamazoo, Michigan and seven grand-
children.
Those attending from this area were
Frank Pentland, Dorothy Grange, Auburn,
Margaret Pritchard, Goderich and others
from London, Dorchester, Windsor and as
far away as Pomona, California.

ngratulations to Don and Lois (Mole)
Walden of Kincardine on the occasion of
their 30th anniversary on November 27. This
was also the day their daughter Vicki and
her husband Brian Hoover presented them
with their first grandchild, a 10 pound 13
ounce son born in London. He is also the first
great grandson for Margaret. Mole of
Dungannon.
Jim and Margaret Errington visited over
the weekend with Ken and Sandra Davidson
and family at Port Lambton to help Laura
celebrate her seventh birthday.
Twelve tables of euchre were in play at
the seniors weekly card party on Wednes-
day evening. High white card was Isabel
Adams, low white card Mel Jones; high pink
card, Verna Schaff; low pink card was a tie
between Gloria Pearson and Mary Alton
with Gloria winning the cut.

alternative plans

Ministry of the Environment addressed
Ashfield Township Council regarding their
instructions to close the waste disposal site
on part of lot 3 con. 13 W.D.
They offered three alternatives. 1) pro-
ceed with the preparations of an application
to the Ministry for the approval of the site.
2) establish as a transfer site where garbage
would be deposited in a large container and
hauled to the other site on a regular basis. 3
closing the site.
The following resolution was passed. That
Maitland Engineering Services, Wingham,
Ont. be retained to investigate which of the
three alternatives should be pursued."
Council supported a resolution from the
Ontario Good Roads Association respecting
the inadequacy of the funds made available
by the Province for Municipal Road Subsidy
as expressed in their brief to the Ontario
Cabinet. •
A letter was read from the County of
Huron for coments on the proposed restora-
tion of the County Museum. The following
motion was passed... That the Township of
Ashfield opposes the recommendation of the
County of Huron regarding the restoration
of the Huron County Museum which would
increase the tax burden of Ashfield
Township ratepayers of a proposed amount
of $14,937 a year for five years."
Road account of $14,580.67, and general
accounts of $507,582.15 which includes the
final payment of the 1984 requisitions for
County and School Board purposes were ap-
proved for.payment.
The next meeting of council will be Tues-
day, December 4th at 1:30 p.m.
Huron for 'comments on the proposed

Huron County Council will meet
Thursday, December 6 at 10 a.m. in the
council chambers, Court House, Goderich.
The Parks and,Wfterfront Committee will
meet Thursday! December 6 at noon in the
Candlelight Restaurant.
Goderich Town Council will meet Mon-
day, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. in town hall.
The Inaugural Session of Huron County
Council will be held Tuesday, December 11
at 2 p.m. in the council chambers, Court
House, Goderich and *111 continue Wednes-
day, December 12 at 10:30 a.m.

Due to the ever increasing numbers of
minors attending licensed functions, it was
decided to check into the possibility of hiring
a security person to assist those who rent
the ball to keep things running smoothly.
Ads willbe placed in local papers.
• Plans for the New Year's Eve Dance were
finalized. "By Special Request" will provide
music for the dance, held Monday,
December 31 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. A free
corsage will be given to the first 10 ladies
while door prizes, and spot dances will be a
part of the evening's fun. The menu for the
r ednight meal will include ham, scalloped
potatoes, baked beans, cabbage salad,
relishes and rolls.
If any person or group is interested in
sponsoring a Christmas party for Dungan-
non area children this year, the hall will be
donated for this event. Please call Michelle
Brindley at 529-7946 for hall bookings.
The float entered in the Goderich Santa
Claus parade included the Fair Queen,
Susan Brindley, and several children,
costumed as the Muppets. Thanks to Gordon
Brindley who supplied the truck for the
float.
The Euchre Tournament, Saturday,
November 24 was thoroughly enjoyed by the
people who made up 21 tables but especially
by those winning prize money or cakes!
Future Euchre Tournaments will be held on
the fourth Saturday of each month in the
New Year. Each time there will be novelty
games for some extra fun!
The next regular meeting will be the an-
nual meeting, Tuesday, January 22, starting
with a potluck supper at 7 p.m. Following.
will be a 29 -minute colour film which was
produced for Ontario's Bicentennial year as
a tribute to the past generation of farmers
who made Ontario great. The flim, "Proud
Beginnings" focuses on the achievements of
Ontario fanners, past and present, and
visits six Ontario farm families who con-
tinue to farm land settled by their ancestors
more than 200 years ago.
Everyone who has helped in past events or
who is willing to help in the future is
welcome to enjoy this supper and meeting.
