Authority plans
The Ausable-Bayfield Conservation
Authority has budgeted over $525,000 for
1985 capital projects.
The Npitafprojec'f<s were approved at the
authority's fall meeting Nov. 27. ABCA
general -manager Torn Prout said that
although the authority has tentatively
budgeted these projects, not all will be
started. The go-ahead of the projects
depends on ministry of natural resources
approval.
Two such capital projects, where provin-
cial funding is not expected, are for the
estimated $100,000 Lucan Erosion Control
project and Phase II of the flood monitoring
system expected to cost about $31,000.
Public relations officer Dan Kannaley
said the authority will know by m41 -January
which projects would be apprbved. The
budget will be. reassessed for approval at
the ABCA's annual meeting in February.
The largest budgeted project is the Grand
Bend "Area D" erosion control project.
Downriver from previous erosion control
project "Area E", the '85 project is
estimated at $160,000. This involves erosion
control measures along the Lake Huron
shoreline in Grand Bend.
Another major project for 1985 involves
erosion control at Port Franks. This is ex-
pected to cost about $125,000 for engineering
studies and the first phase of construction.
Mr. Prout said the cost would be covered
from the sale of cottages in the area.
A fill line review study of all the
municipalities in the watershed has been
budgeted at $20.000. A flood line mapping
study has been budgeted at $55,000.
Improvements at the Parkhill Dam slated
for 1985 area estimated at $35,000.
Other capital projects for next year in-
volve improvements to the four major con-
servation areas - Rock Glen, Parkhill, Clin-
ton and the Exeter -Morrison corridor.
Trail improvements and tree planting en-
compass the improvements.
