As a semi-professional historian (whose field of interest lies elsewhere) I was very much impressed with the quality of the work and research that Mrs. Beecroft displayed in this book. As a ling -time resident of Goderich Township/it was a delight to find so much of the real history of the area within the covers of one rather small booklet. Mrs. Beecroft achieved what few of us do who write; conciseness, clarity, good detail, human interest and readability in few words. The Maitland Valley Conservation people are to be congratulated on the idea of publishing this booklet as well as on their choice of author. No home within ten miles of the Maitland River from its sources to its mouth should be without this book. It is among the best of its kind that I have seen.
