A steel band, exotic refreshments and the tantalizing literature made available by a number of wholesalers warmed the capacity crowd. Well, I was helping to build a house, cover rocks with snow - THAT is hard to do, and when it comes to painting flowers on window shutters - I should give up! How about THAT! Believe it or not - I had fun working on Old Grinch's house and sleigh for the Santa Claus parade. As the children can tell you, he's not a very nice character. He tried to steal Santa's toys - and anything handy went into that great big bag of his. I think he met his downfall when he left that big Teddy Bear on top of the heap - just ask the kids, they'll tell you what happened. Anyway I, too, am excited about our Christmas season and the happiness that goes with it. Shopping is a big headache for some - but a thrill for others - they're usually the ones " With lots of Mo-o-ola in their pockets and the kids love them. I just drool and envy them! Don't you think the Santa Parade was just wonderful? Oh, they can't compare with the T.V. parades - but who knows - someday we will have a craft shop that will have an en- thusiastic teacher of papier mache and then we will have those fantastic things in our parade that will make people come from many, many miles to see it. Now THAT is a threat. There are many things I'd like to do and making people smile and enjoy the things around them is top priority. Anyway it would be great to see things created out of cardboard, to make everyone smile. If you haven't visited Disney World - even Disneyland in California - you should TRY to get there someday. 'Right here in Ontario, there are sevelal great Disney World type of showplaces that have sprung up - and they are very good - but your first trip to Anaheim or Florida will make you realize that although this was With Martha Rathburn built for the kids, it is the grown-up who realizes how wonderful it is and the technology, that is used to make a real bird sing - when you know it is dead! Wild animals go through certain everyday mo- tions until you suddenly realize they're do- ing those motions over again exactly as before. It makes you stop and think. Even the TIKI Birds are so realistic - and you know they aren't - that you laugh and thrill to their wonderful music. Oh - the world of "Make Believe" has always been with us - and will stay to the bit- ter end - and I had a sinking feeling this A.M. when some ladies came to tell of the great ending our world is coming to - soon! The world is becoming so wicked we can't cope anymore - and we know it. But we also know there will be very few left to start a new world if we don't find a way to improve our own little corner. So much for the preaching. I'm not very good at it - but I have my own beliefs and try to live up to them. The peo- ple who had taken over the lovely old house had moved a few walls, stairs and doors and re -arranged them into a lovely more com- fortable home with the simple im- provements we have now. Years ago you couldn't have open stairways - they didn't have our heating machines and the little house out back is now a beautiful - in its own right - room with shower, hidden toilet - tiles and vanities and all the cupboard space you need in one corner, of that so-called bedroom. Isn't it always wonderful to see such improvement., • The weather has been so wonderful lately - it must be Indian Summer - is that related to Indian Giver? Anyway, everyone must be 'enjoying it and I wish it might stay until the New Year. I heard that last year - for many - they couldn't traverat Christmas. I think so- meone's wish hadn't held up long enough! Happy gift hunting - and remember I have "gifts" that could come from two or three of you for everyone's enjoyment. Think about it.
