Huron Centre
celebrates
seventh year
with open house
CLINTON - The name, Huron Centre for
Children and Youth has steadily gained
recognition in the county over the past seven
years. Still, many people are unfamiliar
with the role that the centre plays.
The Clinton and Exeter based family
counselling agency is holding a Christmas
Open House at their Clinton offices at 160
Huron Street on Wednesday, December 12
from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The open house is being
held to familiarize the public with work done
at the Huron Centre.
Serving all of Huron County, the centre of-
fers individual and family counselling for
children and parents experiencing stressful
situations at home and school.
The December 12 open house will help
celebrated seven years of service given by
the Huron Centre.
The evening will also be a special occasion
for young people in the county. At 8 p.m.
that evening, judges will choose a logo
design for the centre, from more than 200
entries. The works of three young artists
will be selected, in age divisions 10 and
under, 11 to 14 years and 15 to 19 years. As
well, a name will be drawn at random from
the entries as winner of the fourth prize.
The four prizes are AM -FM portable
c ssette players, donated by Jerry
M Lean and Son Sports of Exeter and the
Clin n Optimists Club.
Thpublic is invited to visit the Huron
entre and join in this Christmas get
together.

on any grassed boulevard at any time of the
year.
Some persons believe that by parking on a
paved or gravelled boulevard between
November 15 and March 15 means they will
not get a parking ticket. This belief is incor-
rect, the overnight parking ban includes any
boulevard, whether grass, gravel or tar-
mac.
To those who may think our Council's ban
is too harsh - remember in many other small
communities their ban is for every night of
the year. Our ban is intended only to cover
those months when snow can be expected.
When it does come down, your Works
Department crews can ensure a good
cleared street for motorists to use.
WATCH YOUR PARKING, PLEASE.
MVCA approve
$1.8 million
budget for 1985
A carry over of over half a million
dollars for the Listowel conduit project
makes up one fourth of Maitland Valley
Conservaton Authority's proposed 1985
budget.
The preliminary budget of $1.8 million
was approved at MVCA's fall meeting.
Authority chairman Dave Gower of
Goderich called the early budget a "shopp-
ing basket".
Just over $1 million has been set aside
for 1985 capital projects. The Listowel con-
duit project is the largest portion of that
capital request.
Mr. Gower said MVCA is competing with
the other authorities in the province for
conservation dollars from the ministry of
natural resources.
"The proposed Wallace Avenue
reconstruction project (Listowel conduit)
did not proceed in 1984 because the town
and owners could not agree on a cost-
sharing formula for the local share (15 per
cent) of the channel improvement costs,"
states a MVCA report.
Most of the original money set aside for
the Listowel project is still on the project,
until "all possibilities of procuring
easements and/or acquisition of proper-
ties have been ruled out".
Other major capital expenses include
$162,000 for three erosion control projects
along the Lake Huron shoreline and
$139,300 for land purchase at the Saratoga
Swamp.
General administration accounts for
$277,000 of the budget while general opera-
tions and maintenance makes up $133,900.
The ministry's funding allottment is ex-
pected in mid-January. At that time the
budget will be re-examined and then
presented at the authority's annual
meeting in February.
