Goderich Elevator Bantams had a win and a tie in Shamrock League activity this week, winning a road game against St. Marys 4-2 on November 14 and tieing Strathroy 5-5 at home on Saturday. In St. Marys, Goderich was up 3-0 after two periods, and added one goal in the third, while the home team scored twice. Scott Garrow was in on all the Goderich scoring, with a hat trick, plus one assist. Dan McDougall scored the other Goderich marker and also had one assist. Greg Alcock and Duane Chapman each earned an assist for Goderich. In Saturday's game, Greg Alcock scored twice, while Bob Allen, Scott Garrow and Bill Whetstone each netted one. Goderich got off to a slow start, and found them elves down 2 - 0 midway through the first period. Then at the 7:21 mark of the first period, Rod Nurse, scored his • first, of three straight goals for the night, when he picked -up .a Gary Erb re- bound and slid the puck by the falling Wingham goalie. Then at the 12:31 mark, Nurse picked up his second goal, after driving a Shawn Larder rebound between the legs of the Wingham goaltender. Next, at the 6:20 mark of the second period, Nurse scored the go-ahead goal by shooting the puck just inside the post, after - receiving a pass from Larder, which made the score, 3 - 2 Goderich. Darren Connelly, rounded out the scoring in the second, after he picked -up his own rebound and shot it past the stunned Winghanl goalie. • sparks Midget win The third per's(' got off to a poor start for Williairnson. Ian MacKinnon scored a breakaway goal, after being assisted deep in his own end by Shawn Larder and Jay The Goderich Midgets lost a pair of games in recent OMHA hockey action. On Noveber 10, St. Marys came to town and annihilated Goderich 11-3. Shawn Larder, Richard Boddy and Jim Beattie were the Goderich sharpshooters, with Larder and Beattie each drawing an assist as well. Darcy McGee and Gary Erb also assisted on one goal each. On November 11 Trenton, Michigan were the visitors and they came out on top by a 5-3 margin. Kevin Talbot scored a goal and assisted on one for Goderich. Rod Nurse and Darren Connelly scored single goals and Ron Chap- man, Shawn Larder and Brian Chambers had one assist each. Goderich Novices lose close game The Goderich Novice Hockey team travelled to Strathroy on Saturday. Although the local boys came out on the short end of the 3 - 2 score, they played a strong defensive game. Goalies Dirk Wolterbeek and Chris Lyn- don shared duties in the net. The coaches were pleased withathe boys' performance, considering that lines had to be juggled due to injuries and illness of three players. Strathroy opened the scoring when Dar- rell Campbell, assisted by Jeff Adkin, got the puck past Wolterbeek. Strathroy added their second goal when Scott Greig. assisted by Darryl Camnb'll and Lincoln Dolbear, scored at the 6:33 mark of the first period. In the second period, Goderich made their first mark on the scoreboard when Bryan Currie and David Lumby assisted on Ken McLarty's goal. There were no Strathroy goals in the second period. In the 3rd period, Brian Hodges, assisted by Craig Corriveau and Jeremy Powell, got past Strathroy goalie, Shawn Ipulden, at the 3:12 mark. The winkling goal came for Strathroy at the 9:08 mark of the final period. Goderich fought back hard and almost got NOTHING TO DO ON P.D. DAY? -GO SKATING A P.D. The Novices play at home this Saturday, November 24, when they host Strathroy, at 4 Goderich Novices couldn't find the scor- ing touch and came out on the short end of a 4-1 score, in a game against St. Marys, played November 10, in Goderich. Goderich started the game on an en- couraging note, scoring the first goal, 45 seconds into the game. Jason Meriam was the marksmen; assisted by Bryan Hodges. That was it for Goderich as the rest of the scoring was done by the visitors. Goderich deadlocks Strathroy Outstanding performances between the posts by goaltenders Jason Duckworth and Chuck MacLennan, helped the Goderich • Atom A's battle Strathroy to a 2-2 tie, in a Shamrock League game played Saturday, in Strathroy. In addition to fine netminding, coach Rob Jeffrey was pleased with the checking of the forwards and the fine defensive play of the blueline corps. After a scoreless first period, Strathroy struck first, scoring with 7:40 gone in the se- cond frame. Goderich tied it up at the 3:07 mark, on a goal by Jason Jeffrey, assisted by Andrew McLarty. The local squad fell behind again, as Strathroy netted one just 13 seconds later. Jason Jeffrey struck again, to knot the score at two, with the third frame's only scoring play, assisted by Shawn Carver and Jason Volland. Goderich Atom B's blanked Zurich 7-0, in a game played November 12, in Goderich. The local boys got ahead 3-0 in the first period and never looked back. David Boyce scored twice for Goderich; Bryan Lamb and Jason Lajeunesse each had a goal and an assist. Ryan Farrish, Jeff Rau and Drew MacAuley each scored one goal and Scott Matheison, David Edwards and Jeff Kent all assisted on one goal. Jamie Redmond tended the net for Goderich. In Atom Houseleage action, the White team edged Blue by one goal in, two recent, games. On November 7, the score was 7-6 in favor of White. Scoring for White were David Boyce, with four goals and Trevor Bazinet, Jeff Phelan and Andrew Scott, with one each. James McDade and Drew MacAuley each scored two goals for the Blue squad; while Ryan McClinchey and David Edwards netted singles. White won another close one on November 10, by a 4-3 margin. David Boyce and Brian Lamb each scored two goals for White in the game. Drew MacAuley scored twice and David Bogie netted one for Blue. HURON -PERTH Goderich defeated Hensall 5-1, in Huron - Perth Atom Houseleague action, November 16, in Goderich. Drew MacAuley scored two goals and an assist for Goderich. Jeff Kent, Scott Matheison and David Edwards scored singles. Matheison also assisted on one goal, as did Jeff Rau and James McDade. Howell Bridge game is played A four -table Howell game was played by the Goderich Duplicate Bridge Club on Thursday afternoon, November 8. Tom Eadie and Marry Donnelly were the first -place finishers. Archie Hamilton and John Stringer placed second.
