which failed to stop at the corner of South Street and Elgin Avenue. He hit only the front of
the car but ended up across the road where he struck a hydro pole. There was approximate-
ly $2800 damage to the car, $30 to the truck and $1500 to the pole. e driver of the car has

North Castle needs land
to expand operation here
Goderich town council will prepare an
agreement authorizing the sale of 2.5 acres
of land in Industrial Park to North Castle
Marine Ltd.
''In a letter to council, North Castle
Marine Ltd. president, Ted Gozzard, sug-
gested his company would like to purchase
the lot adjacent to their existing facility on
Huckins 'Street. At a purchase price of
$5,000 per acre, the parcel would command
a selling price of. $12,500.
Gozzard said the comfpany requires ad-
ditional workshop space with a goal to ex-
pand the company's export program.
"Our intentions are to procure an addi-
tional 12,000 square feet of work shops,
either by building a new building, or pur-
chasing the old H.M.I. building. This will
create 15 to 25 additional permanent jobs,
and allow us to expand our export pro-
. gram," the letter said.
The shipwright firm is the renowned
builder off the Pilgrim 40 and H.T. Gozzard
36.
The sale off several parcels of land on or
near the Suncaost Drive extension recent,-
ly c has prompted council to establish a
reserve fund for servicing of the area. Ad-
ministrator Larry McCabe told council
that he received $1,250 from Goderich
Plymouth -Chrysler for the sale of land and
that funds would be corning from the sale
of land to MacPhee Motors and Barlin
Leasing Inc.
Council endorsed a motion calling for all
funds from the sale of industrial land adja-
cent to the Suncaost Drive extension to be
placed in a special reserve fund to be used
for servicing in the area.
Council studies X2.1
million museum proposal
Town council has asked its ad-
ministrative 'committee to review a
recommendation from Huron County
Council which endorses a $2.1 million ex-
penditure for the restoration of the Huron
County Pioneer Museum in Goderich.
After reviewing the contents of a
feasibility study, county council endorsed
a recommendation from the property com-
mittee suggesting the county proceed with
restoration of the school building and
engage in substantial reconstruction of the
additions to the school in a phased project
costing $2.1 million over five years.
The county suggests it would contribute
$300,000 a year to the project for five years.
The balance of the cost. of the project
would be made up through grants, dona-
tions and other fund-raising sources.
In order to raise $300,000 annually, a
report from the committee suggests the
average county mill rate would increase
by just over three mills. The residential
and farm rate would increase by 2.93 mills
and the commercial and industrial mill
rate would increase by 3.44 mills. The
estimated average mill rate increase to
the town of Goderich would be 2.75 mills.
The county -operated museum was clos-
ed to the public after it was deemed struc-
turally unfit and a portion of it was
subsequently closed to the public. The
recommendation results from suggestions
contained in a feasibility report commis-
sioned for the County of Huron.
The administrative committee of council
will review the recommendation and for-
ward comments to the county for con-
sideration.
