Vikings finish in first
The GDCI Viking Senior Girls Basket-
ball team completed an undefeated
regular season with a 10-0 record last
week.
The first -place Goderich girls soundly
defeated Central Huron and Lisowel in
their games; to complete their second
straight regular season without a loss.
On Tuesday, the Vikings stopped Central
Huron 88-37; paced by Captain KimFritzley's 32 points.
The Redmen were no match for the
quicker Goderich girls, who led 20-10 after
the first quarterand 44-16 at the half.
Mary Bei Alexander with 14 apd
Christine Stapleton with 12, also had dou-
ble figures for the Vikes. Cathie Gallow
with eight, Joanne Campbell with six,
Allison Graham with four, and Sarah Alex-
ander, Mary Murphy, Jennifer Peters,
with a basket each, rounded out the scor-
ing.

On Thursday, at home, the Vikings ham-
mered Listowel 71-16. Goderich led 33-9 at
the half.
Again the Vikings were led by the scor-
ing and fine passing of guard Kim Fritzley,
who scored 28 points. Cathie Gallow who
also played well, scored 10 and Allison
Graham 11, to have double figures for
Goderich.
Other Viking scorers were Christine
Stapleton, who rebounded well, nine; Anne
Allan, five; Joanne Campbell,. four;
Kathleen Donnelly and Lisa Engelsted, a
basket each.
The Vikings receive a bye in the quarter
finals on Tuesday but host the survivor of
the quarter-tmals, with the worst recora m
the semi-final, here Thursday.
The finals are played next week on Tues-
day, Thursday and Friday if necessary.

The GDCI Midget girls basketball team
finished their regular season last week, with
a pair of victories over Central Huron and
Listowel.
Tuesday in Clinton, the Vikings defeated
Central Huron 58-12 in a one-sided contest.
Thursday at home, the Vikes swamped
Listowel 70-27.
The Vikings finished the season in third
place, with a record of six wins and be losses. eague

Against Clinton, Mary Jo Evans, with 12
points and Maureen Stapleton, with 10, pac-
ed the Viking attack. Rhonda Teal added

man full -court press, enroute to their win
over Listowel.
Mary Jo Evans had 15 points, Maureen
Stapleton and Rhonda Teal had 14 apiece
and Pam Fritzley hooped 11 for the winners.

Several of the Vikings are beginning to

out of this week's Shamrock League hockey a

Goderich.
Stacy Rean scored twice for Goderich and
Allison Graham tallied the other marker for
the local girls. Angie Chisholm and Debbie
Babel were credited with assists.
Jackie Snyders scored the lone Mitchell
marker.
The victory over Mitchell came just one
day after the Junior Belles suffered a 5-3
defeat on the road; at the hands of the Strat-
ford No. 1 team.
Stacey Rean again led the scoring with a
pair of goals; while Angie Chisholm potted
the other Goderich marker. Lori McCarney
earned two assists in the game; while Deb-
bie O'Brien and Allison Graham each pick-
ed up one assist.
The Goderich Tweens lost two ringette
games to Stratford this week, dropping a 7-6
decision to Stratford No. 1, on November 10
in Stratford and going down 11-4 to Stratford
No. 2, at home on November 11.

13.24 and 14.43 the Lions struck fast for
their three goals to give them a lead they
never gave up.
A two man advantage by St. Marys, late
in the third period, was the break they
needed to get back in the game in which
they tallied twice to come within one goal
in the last minute, but time ran out on their
comeback.
Three late second -period goals by the
Goderich Lions Pee Wees turned out to be
the margin of• 'ictory, needed to defeat
visiting St. Marys 6-5, last Saturday.
Both teams came out skating very fast
and this resulted with both teams obtain-
ing many shots on net that caused a 2-2 tie
after the first period.

Kelly Lumley and Angie Harrison each
netted one, with Harrison getting an assist.

Chris O'Neill was the offensive point
leader in this contest, producing a hat
trick, while Tim Harrison tallied twice and
Brian Lane once. Jeff Hodges had 2
assists, Kevin Moss and Jean Paul Cauchi
had single assists.
As of this writing, the Lions were trying
for an exhibition game this Saturday at
home; but the next league game will be at
home, November 24, when Strathroy are
