tJCW sees slides on. DominiCan Republic Missionary Church
Knox United, -Church Sunday School ex-
ecutive has decided to have a White Gift ser-
vice on December 2 with the children taking
part in the church service. Each family is
asked to contribute an article of winter wear
such as slippers, mitts, socks, toques or
scarves, not wrapped, or a white envelope
money gift. All donations will go to Family
and Children's Services of Huron County.
The executive has chosen December 22 for
the annual Christmas concert of the Sunday
school at 8 p.m.
Trustees Meet •
The November meeting of the Auburn
Trustee Board was held with all members
present. The chairman, Warner Andrews,
presided. The secretary, Mrs. Ross Dobie
read the minutes.
Edgar Daer was present at the meeting
and agreement for snow removal was
discussed. Edgar was hired for the coming
season.
The water reservoir was refilled recently
on Goderich Street.
Social News
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jardin visited on the
weekend in Kitchener with members of
their family.
Frank Raithby is a patient in Clinton
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Robertson of
Meaford visited with her sister, Mrs. Tom
Jardin and Mr. Jardin and mother, Mrs.
Elva Straughan for two days last week. Mrs.
Straughan returned home with them for a
few days.
Several from here, attended the St.
Augustine Bazaar last Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Reid' Sheppard of Sarnia
visited last Tuesday with Mrs. Tom
Johnston and Miss Laura Phillips.

Winners at last week's euchre party held
in the Auburn Community Memorial Hall
were: high lady, Mrs. Clarence Allen, low
lady, Mrs. Tom Haggitt, high man, Roy
Daer, low man, Jack Hallam and novelty,
Kenneth McDougall. There were seven
tables in play. Everyone is invited to attend
this evening of euchre every Tuesday even-
ing at 7 p.m. sharp.
Congratulations to Fred Sears of Goderich
who celebrated his birthday last week at the
home of his son, William and Mrs. Sears.
During the day, Mrs. Sears served birthday
cake at the restaurant in his honour.
Don't forget the annual Christmas Fair
sponsored by the Auburn Booster Club in the
Community Memorial Hall this Saturday.

Citizenship and World Affairs conveners,
Mrs. Tom Jardin and Mrs. Tina Empey, will
be in charge of the program at the
November meeting of the Women's Institute
to be held next Tuesday, November 20 at 2
p.m. The roll call is to be, "Why should we
appreciate living in Ontario?" The
hostesses will be Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer,
Mrs. Elliott Lapp and Mrs. Catherine
Jackson. Everyone is welcome.

The November meeting of Knox United
Church Women, Unit 2 was held last Tues-
day in the Sunday School room of the chur-
ch. The conveners of the meeting were Mrs.
Jack Vincent, Mrs. Dana Bean and Mrs.
Ross Dobie. The theme for the meeting was
Daughter arrives safely
Congratulation to Ian and Elaine Court-
ney on the safe arrival of their darling
daughter, Lisa Janine 8 lbs., 10 oz., at the
Kincardine and District Hospital, October
24th. The proud giandpartents are Leonard
and Muriel Courtney of Point Clark and Ar-
chie and Nora Procter of Glen Morris.
Sympathy is extended to the Hooey family
on the passing of John Mervyn Hooey in the
Kincardine Hospital in his 83rd year. He is
survived by his wife Lenore, one son, Carl of
Huron Township, two grandchildren, three
sisters, Mrs. Murdock (Evelyn) MacDonald
of Lucknow, Verna Finlayson of Ripley and
Mrs. Art (Elva) Smeltzer of Huron
Township and one brother Elmer Hooey of
Lucknow.
One and all would like to send congratula-
tions to Mac Boyd of R.R. No. 4 Huron
Township on being awarded the Bicenten-
nial Medal. Mr. Boyd was given the award
for taking part in all community activities.
He is especially concerned with those who
are ill, the down hearted and the elderly.
The Bicentennial Medal was also awarded
to an outstanding man in Ripley, Who does
play a great part in the community, Albert
(Ab) Wylds. Mr. Wylds writes the Ripley
Express News for the local papers, is a
retired high school principal, has been in-
volved in volunteer work for many years,
started a Forestry Club and taught English
to many new Canadians.
The community would like to send its
sympathy to Mrs. Glenn McFadden on the

"Peace".
Mrs. Eme?son Rodger was the pianist and
accompanied for the singing of the hymn,
"Peace 0 Perfect Peace". Mrs. Dana Bean
gave a reading of a follow-up of the Thomas
Crosby ship given by Mrs. Donald Haines at
a recent meeting.
Mrs. Greta Burgsma, a member of the
Christian Reformed Church in Lucknow,
was the guest speaker. She showed slides of
her recent trip to the Dominican Republic
where they had founded a new Missionary
Church. Her commentary was very in-
teresting and a question period followed.
Mrs. Dana Bean thanked her and presented
her with a gift.
The president, Mrs. Glen Webster, took
Kae Webster, 395--5257
passing of her husband in Victoria Hospital,
London on Saturday. Mrs. McFadden was
the former Christine MacLennan, daughter
of Alex MacLennan formerly of this area.
On Saturday evening a large crowd from
this area, Pine River and Huron Township
were in Lucknow at the community centre
to honour Mac and Edna Boyd who
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Visiting one day this week with George
and Betty 'Moncrief were their daughter-in-
law and grandson Lesley and Scott Moncrief
of Alymer.
Rhetta MacLennan had a couple of nice
surprises this week when a couple of her
neighbours called by. They were Danny
Rose of Markdale and Ruth MacKenzie and
son, Keith of Dungannon.
Edna Culbert along with her two
daughters and grandson, Andrea Mac-
Donald and Brenda and Richard Lozette of
Kincardine visited with relatives in London
one day last week.
Charge of the business portion of the
meeting. Reports were accepted as read
and letters to be written to the shut-ins were
arranged. A committee to plan the dinner
for the members of Unit I, the winners of the
penny contest, was arranged for the end of
November.
The meeting was closed with the benedic-
tion and lunch was served by the committee
in charge.
Church News
A Remembrance Day service was held
last Sunday at Knox United Church with the
minister, Mr. Gary Shuttleworth, in charge.
Mrs. Barry Millian and daughter, Lori
played organ and piano music during the
service
The junior choir, under the direction of
Mks. Allan Webster and Mrs. Gordon Gross,
sang the song, "Let There be Peace on Ear-
th." During this song, Anita Gross gave a
choral reading, "A Remembrance Day
Prayer", which she had composed herself.
Mr. SHuttleworth chose for his message,
"Memories" - speaking of the Canadian
soldiers who had served in World War I and
the Korean War.
The reading of the memorial roll was done
by Orval McPhee and Ernest Durnin.
The offering was rece`ed by Marinus
Bakker and Keith Hallam.
The junior congregation was in the charge
of Mrs. Gary Shuttleworth and Mrs.
Marinus Bakker.

HOLMESVILLE - Playground Equipment
Project of Goderich Township is sponsoring
a bus trip to Sherway Mall for shopping and
to the Annual Craft Show at the CNE on

equipment.
The Enterprising Seniors will meet this
Thursday in the Community Centre in
Holmesville at 2 p.m.
The community of Ho1.Tnesville welcomes
Dave Colbourne in the Blaine apartment.
The Sunday morning Worship Service at
Holmesville United Church was well attend-
ed. Following story time the Sunday School
Bhildren went to lower level. Rev.
echtel was in charge of the service.
The weatherman was very good to the
ladies of the UCW of Holmesville Church for
their Annual Bazaar which was well attend-
ed. The tables were laden with many good
things including pickles, vegetables and
flowers; there was a Christmas table of
crafts; the bake table and the table of books.
Lunch was also served. Isabel Harris
welcomed everyone.

4-H leader thanked by club
HOLMESVII,LE - On Nov. 10 at Bev Van
Ninuys the Holmesville I1, Fitness Freaks,
4-H club held its last meeting.
After the pledge mernibers sat down and
discussed books,' making sure they had
everything completed. Bev reminded
members books had to be handed in before
November 16.
They also discussed the Achievement
Night Program, which is being held at 7:30
p.m. at Stanley Twp. Hall on December 3.
Bev treated everyone to homebaked
cookies and pop. Members recited the motto
and said goodbye until the Achievement
Program. All the Fitness Freaks thank Bev
once again for a great learning experience
and a fun time. "Thanks Bev, you're a great
