The community calendar is a special event
information column provided by the
Goderich Recreation Department in co-
operation withthe Signal -Star. The service
is'offered free rof charge and Ls available to
any non-profit group who would like to make
their special event known. Please call the
Recreation. Department at 524-2125 by Mon-
day noon if you .wish to include your event
for the following Wednesday.
NOVEMBER 14 - CARD PARTY
A Card Party will be held at the- MacKay
Centre for Seniors, Goderich on Wednesday,
November 14 at 8 p.m. Admission is $1.
Lunch provided. Everyone Welcome! For a

NOVEMBER 17 - SKATE-A-THON
. The Goderich Skate-A-Thon will be held on
Saturday, November 17 at the Goderich
Arena for 10 hours beginning at 9 a.m. This
event is a fundraising project for Minor
Hockey, Figure Skating and Ringette.
Everyone is welcome to participate and
pledge forms are available from the Ex-
ecutive of each group as well as from the
Goderich Recreation Department. Please
show your support by participating or
through sponsoring a participant.
NOVEMBER 17 - CHRISTMAS BAZAAR ..
BAKE SALE
The Willing Workers Annual Christmas
Bazaar and Bake Sale will be held on Satur-
day, November 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the
Dungannon United Church. There will be a
bake table, crafts, penny sale and more.
Everyone Welcome!
NOVEMBER 21- NOVEMBER FAIR
A November Fair will be held at Victoria
Street United Church, Goderich on Wednes-
day, November 21 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Bake Table, country store and tea. The
November Fair is sponsored by the U.C.W.
NOVEMBER 23 & 24 - COMMUNITY NEW
BOOK SALE
The Goderich Figure Skating Club is holding
a New Book Sale on Friday, November 23
from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday,
November 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the
Suncoast Mall. Over 2,000 new books will be
offered for sale at 25% to 75% off the retail
price. Books will include hobby, fiction, non-
fiction, sports, novels, children's books, etc.
All Sales Cash Only. Come on out for the
best deal in town and buy new books for
Christmas presents!
NOVEMBER 24 - SANTA CLAUS PARADE
& SANTA'S COURT
Entry forms for Santa Claus Parade are
now available at the Goderich Recreation
Department. This year's theme is
"Christmas at the Movies". Trophies„will be
offered to 1st, 2nd, 3rd in the following
categories: Non -Commercial, Commercial,
Youth Group, School and Individual. Santa's
Court will be held after the parade at 2 p.in.
at the Park Theatre. For more information
call 524-2125 at the Recreation Department.
NOVEMBER 24 - TRAVEL SHOW— &
DANCE
The Harbour Light Travel agency is holding
their annual "A Night in the Tropics"
Travel Show and Dance on Saturday,
November 24 beginning at 6 p.m. at the
Saltford Valley Hall. Tickets are $5. per per-
son and are available at Harbour Light
Travel. Proceeds are given to the Goderich
& District Association for the Mentally
Retarded. Draws will be held, with first
prize being a trip for two to Nassau and two
other trips as prizes.
NOVEMBER 24 - EUCHRE TOURNA-
MENT
A Euchre Tournament will be held at the
Dungannon Agricultural Hall. Registration
will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Admission is $3.
per person and includes lunch. Prizes are
$50., $40., and $30. All games are played with
the same partner, so, bring a friend. Special:
10 homebaked cakes to be won! For more in-

NOVEMBER 28 - P.D. DAY PUBLIC
SKATING
A P.D. Public Skating will be held on
Wednesday, November 28 at the Goderich
Arena froru 1 to 3 p.m. Admission: Adults
$1. and Children .500. Everyone Welcome!
END OF SEASON
FASHION
DECEMBER 2 - GOOD CHEER SKATE
A "GOOD CHEER SKATE" will be held on
Sunday, December 2 from 1 to 2:20 p.m. at
the Goderich Arena. Admission is 1 can of
food which will be donated to the Huron
County Christmas Bureau which is spon-
sored by Family & Children's Services. The
canned food will be distributed to needy
families in the Goderich area for Christmas.
Come out and help those less fortunate than
you!
DECEMBER 8
SEMINAR
The Goderich Recreation Department is
sponsoring a Fund Raising Seminar for non-
profit groups to be held on Saturday,
December 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Guest Speaker is Nancy Biggar -Smith from
the Ministry of Citizenship & Culture. This
seminar is free, so if you are interested in
attending please phone the Recreation
Department at 524-2125 to pre -register.
CIRCLE CITY TOASTMASTERS - Reach
out for success!!! Learn how to express
your thoughts, ideas and opinions. Develop
your communications potential through

Theatre Direct Canada, a Toronto-based theatre group, finished up a six-week school tour at
Robertson Memorial Public School last Friday with the play, "Love and Work Enough". It
was about the contributions made to this country by pioneer women. Cast members were,
left to right, Cathy Wendt, Peggy Sample, Marilyn Norry and Heather D. Swain.
