Retired Chai pionemployee dies at 69
MRS. MARION BEIINER
Mrs. Marion Berner of Goderich died in
Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on
Monday, November 5 at the age of 69.
She was born in Goderich Township on
August 12,1915 to Herbert and Jane (Young)
Lamprey.
The late Mrs. Berner was retired as a
supervisor with the purchasing department
of Champion Road Machinery. She was a
member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic
Church and the Catholic Women's League of
that church.
She was predeceased by her husband,
Charles Berner and one sister, Mrs. Les
(Oleva) Anderson.
She is survived by three cousins, Dan
Devlin, Felix Devlin and Jack Devlin, all of
Stratford.
Prayers were said for the late Mrs.
Berner at McCallum Funeral Home in
Goderich on Tuesday evening, November 6
and a funeral mass was held at St. Peter's
Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday,
November 7 at 3 p.m. with the Reverend
Father Joseph Hardy as celebrant.
Pallbearers were Alex Almasi, Dan
Devlin Jr., Blaise Devlin, Glen Phillips, Neil
Hamilton and Nick Groen.
Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery.
LILY RUTH HAYDEN
Lily Ruth Hayden died in Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital, Goderich on
Thursday, November 8 at the age of 89.
She was born in Colborne Township on Ju-
ly 25,1895 to Samuel and Ellen (Morris) Pot-
ter.
She married William Stanley Hayden on
November 9, 1921 in Colborne Township. He
predeceased her.
The late Mrs. Hayden worked in the kit-
chen at Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital for many years. She was a member

of Rebekah Lodge no. 89 for 34 years and
was a fast Noble Grand of that Lodge. She
was also a member of Victoria Street United
Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs.
Allan (Beth) Dickson of Dungannon and
Mrs. Bruce (Grace) MacDonald of
Goderich; one son, William Robert Hayden
of Abbottsford, British Columbia; one
sister, Charlotte Harrison of Stratford; one
brother, Russell Potter of Michigan; 11
grandchildren; and nine great-
grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was predeceas-
ed by one sister, Flora McIntyre; and four
brothers, Lee, Roy, Lyman and Clarence
Potter.
A funeral service was held at Stiles
Funeral Home in Goderich on Saturday,
November 10 at 2 p.m. The Reverend John
D.M. Wood of Victoria Street United Church
officiated.
Pallbearers were Ralph Curran, Gary
Ladouceur, Eric Harrison, Don Appleby,
Denny Novak and Dale Appleby.
Rebekah Lodge no. 89 held a service at the
funeral home on Friday, November 9 at 7
p.m.
Interment was in the Maitland Cemetery.
NORAH MAUREEN RANKIN
Norah Maureen Rankin died in Toronto on
Sunday, November 11.
She is survived by her husband, Alex G.
Rankin; six daughters, Mrs. P. (Anne)
Lind, Mrs, J. (Jane) Pizale, Cathryn, Mrs.
J. (Sheila) Hall, Nina and Mrs. Sam (Alix)
Taggart; one son, Douglas; one brother,
Craig Costello of London; and seven grand-
children.
She was predeceased by one son, Robert.
The body of the late Mrs: Rankin is resting
at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home in
Toronto until Thursday when a funeral mass
will be held at Holy Rosary Church at 11
a.m.
Interment will be in Mount Hope
Cemetery, Toronto.
Donations may be made to the Canadian
Cancer Society.
MRS. MARY RAE
(MacNAIR) BLANEY
Mary Rae (MacNair) Blaney died in Alex-
andra Marine and General Hospital,
Goderich on Monday, November 12 in her
64th year.
She is survived by her husband, William
C. Blaney; two sons, Bill and Paul; three
grandchildren, Debbie, Mark and Bill; and
one great-grandson, Christopher.
Cremation will take place Thursday,
November 15. In lieu of flowers, donations

A funeral service was held for the late
Mrs. Fox at McCallum Funeral Home in
Goderich on Monday, November 12 at 2 p.m.
The Reverend G.L. Royal of Knox
Presbyterian Church officiated.
Danny Preszcator was flower bearer.
Pallbearers were Gary Dykstra, Brian
Dykstra,
Howard Preszcator,
Rick Preszcator and Alex McDonald.
Seaforth Rebekah Lodge held a memorial
service at the funeral home Sunday evening,
November 11.
Interment was in
Cemetery, Seaforth.
MRS. SARAH FOX
Mrs. Sarah Fox of Meneset Park, R.R. 5
Goderich, and formerly of Pine River, died
in Alexandra Marine and General Hospital,
Goderich on Friday, November 9 at the age
of 73.
She was born in Largs, Scotland on
November 18, 1910 to Duncan and Sarah
(Conn) MacMillan.
The late Mrs. Fox was a member of
Seaforth Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas
Fox;, one daughter, Mrs. Ron (Sally)
Preszcator of Oshawa; two sons, Duncan of
.Pine River and David of Goderich; one
sister, Mrs. Ed (Janet) Andrews of Seafor-
th; one brother, Duncan MacMillan of South
Bend, Indianna; and seven grandchildren.

MRS. EDWARD FANGRAD
Mrs. Edward Fangrad of 183 Caledonia
Street, Stratford, died in Stratford General
Hospital on Monday, November 12 at the age
of 77.
She was born Ruth Hopkins in Bentinck
Township, Grey County. She had been a
resident of Stratford for 41 years.
She is survived by her husband Edward;
two daughters, Mrs. John D. (Grace)
Gilbert of Statford and Mrs. Don (June)
Kinsman of Woodstock; one son David
Fangrad of Stratford; three brothers, D.
Gordon Hopkins of Hanover, E. Roy
Hopkins of Markdale and Edward T.
Hopkins of R.R. 1 Hanover; one sister, Lily
Hopkins of Hanover; sister-in-law, Mrs.
Arthur (Edith) Hopkins of Hanover; and
three grandchildren, Richard Kinsman of
Scarborough and Sue and Janice Kinsman
of Woodstock.
She was predeceased by one brother,
Arthur Hopkins.
A funeral service was held today
(Wednesday) at Elgin Memorial Missionary
Church, Stratford with burial in Avondale
Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the
building fund of Elgin Memorial Missionary
Church through the W.G. Young Funeral
Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford.
WAYNE JOSEPH COURTNEY
The body of Wayne Joseph Courtney, 97
Edgehill Drive, N.W., Calgary, Alberta was
found by a logger on Monday, October 22,
1984. Wayne was the second son of Joe and
Teresa Courtney, R.R. No. 1, Dungannon.
He lost his life by drowning in the Kicking
Horse River near Golden, British Columbia
on July 1, 1984.
An autopsy was performed at Cranbrook,
B.C. and positive identificationmade
through dental records. The body was flown
to the Toronto Airport by C.P. Airlines. The
Bob Hindsman Funeral Home, Golden, B.C.
and MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home,
Lucknow'were in charge of arrangements.
Rosary was recited at the funeral home by
members of the Kingsbridge Catholic
Women's League. Funeral Mass was
celebrated by Rev. Father Ed Dentinger,
C.R. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church
at Kingsbridge on Saturday, October 27, at
10:30 a.m. Altar servers were Dean Riegling
and Jimbo Sinnett.

Organist Marianne Hogan played, `=LAm
the Resurrection"; "Only a Shadow";
"Panis Angelicus"; and "Peace is Flowing
Like a River". Hymns were sung by Eugene
Frayne, John VanRooy and Bill Van Osch.
Readings were done by Helen (Courtney)
Riegling and Margaret Austin.
Pallbearers were four brothers, Gary
Courtney, Eric Courtney, Floyd Courtney
and Carl Courtney and cousins Joe Austin
and Terry Austin. The offering was taken up
by his "sis", Chris Courtney and cousins,
Debbie Austin, Vivian Bryan, Fay (Hogan)
Telfer, Desmond and Michael Courtney.
As a special tribute Jim Sinnett sang
"WANDERING BOY" at the graveside ser-
vice as the rain gently fell. Burial was in the
Kingsbridge Cemetery. Following the ser-
vices, lunch was served at the Courtney
homestead.
