Goderich Novices lost a tough contest to
Parkhill, in Goderich on Saturday, by a 5-2
score.
Parkhill jumped ahead on the strength of
three first -period goals, before Goderich
struck for one less than a minute into the se-
cond frame.
Parkhill built up their lead with two more
third -period goals, but the local team never
gave up, scoreing the games last counter
eight minutes and 53 seconds into the final
frame.

Goderich Lions Pee wees split contests
Goderich Lions Peewee's split back to
back contests last weekend. Both games
were entertaining and well played. They
defeated Parkhill at home Saturday 9-5 and
lost 2-1 to Strathroy on Sunday.
Against Parkhill, Andre Cauchi had five
scoring points, with two goals, three assists;
Tim Harrison scored four goals and Chris
O'Neill's; three goals, one assist led the of-
fence in a wide-open game. Brian Lane and
Sean O'Brien had two assists each, while
Lonnie Rumig, and Jeff Hodges had an
assist each. -
Parkhill turned out to be a pesky squad,
narrowing the Lions leads of 3-1, 5-3 and 6-4
before the locals tallied three goals in a
minute, to break open a close contest. Bob
Lumley went all the way in net for Goderich:
In Strathroy, Sunday, the game saw the
Lions give one of their better defensive
displays of the year, enabling them to give
goalie Pat Donnelly, who played a very
strong game, good protection.
During this contest, with Lions having the
man advantage late in the second period,
they were unable to pull the trigger on two
open nets. T1ie locals trailed 1-0 after two
periods and 2-0 at the midway point of the
third period. The only tally Goderich could
master, was by Andre Cauchi with 12
seconds left, with Chris O'Neill assisting.
The defence corp stood tall in this game,
getting good support from forwards
backchecking.
. The Lions play this weekend, at home
against St. Mary's and hope to keep the good
playup and get better results around the
net.
