The Vikings, whG now have a record of five wins and two losses, had defeated Nor- thwestern by one point ii their only other previous meeting. This game was close too, at least at first. • The two teams were tied 1646 at halftime, but the Vikings went on to forge into a com- fortable lead in the second half. Pam Fritzley was the Vikings' leader. She scored 10 points, stole the ball many times and played an aggressive, defensive game. Rhonda Teal and Maureen Stapleton were the top point getters for Goderich, with 12 points each. Tammy Talbot had 10 points, Mary Jo Evans had six and Deb Habel and Deb O'Brien had two points apiece. Julie Stock led Stratford with nine points. The Vikings played in Clinton Tuesday and meet Listowel here Thursday. Viking coach Lynn Meyers is very pleased with the performance of his young charges so far this season and feels the girls basketball pro- gram at GDCI should remain strong for several years. The Goderich Industrial Fastball League recognized its top players with trophies at the organization's banquet on the weekend.
