The members all came in costume. First prize winner was Mrs. Roy Daer in her cowboy costume; the funniest costume was worn by Mrs. Keith Lapp and, she received a prize. Raggedy Anne was, played by Mrs. Dave Kibble and Santa Claus was worn by Mrs. Chris Thomp- son. Mrs. Lloyd Penfound presided for the meeting which began with 0 Canada, follow- ed by all repeating the Lord's Prayer. The secretary s,report was given by Mrs. Joe Verwey in the absence of the secretary, Mrs. Elliott Lapp. Mrs. Keith Lapp gave the financial state- ment, stating the support of the foster child had been paid np to the end of December. A birthday and Christmas gift will be sent im- mediately. The roll call was answered by a donation to the foster child. The draw gift, presented by Mrs. Terry Rutledge, was won by Mrs. Joe Verwey. The lunch committee will be Mrs. Ethel Ball and Mrs. Lloyd Pen - found. Mrs. Lloyd Penfound demonstrated how to braid clothes hangers and all members worked at this project. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. Terry Rutledge and Mrs. Bernice Norman and a social half hour enjoyed. Booster Club Booster Club members are reminded that a meeting will be held on November 12 at the home of Mrs. Doug Chamney to finalize plans for the annual Christmas Fair to be held on November 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to buy tickets on the chocolate house and there will also be a door prize. The community is pleased to report that Elliott Lapp is able to be home after surgery on his hip in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Visitors on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Rodger were Mrs. Randy Maize of Port Albert, Mr. and Mrs. William Helesic of Goderich, Gary Rodger of Goderich and Mr. and Mrs. Clare Rodger and family of Goderich. Auburn Horticultural Society will hold its next meeting on November 14 at 8 p.m. District Director Clarence Laing of Chesley will be the guest speaker. Everyone is welcome. Word was received in Auburn last week of the death of Frank Mcllveen of Oshawa. He was a retired bank manager and is well known in this community, having visited here with his parents, the late F.0. McIl- veen and the late Mrs. Mcllveen, the former Gertrude Asquith. He was predeceased by one brother Robert and is survived by four brothers, Dr. Charles, Dr. Gilbert, Donald and Eric. Church News Members of the Blyth Legion 420 and the Ladies' Auxiliary attended Knox United ,Church in Auburn last Sunday morning. Mrs. Eleanor Ward of Wingham was in charge of the service and Mrs. Barry Millian was the organist. The sergeant of arms was Ralph McCrea and the colour party included Bill Vincent, Stewart Ament, Mrs. Edith Glousher and Mrs. Mildred Ament. Mrs. Ward took for her theme, "The Daily Walk". A piano solo, "Jesus Loves Me", with variations, was played by Lori Millian. The ushers were Marinus Bakker and Keith Hallam and Mrs. Ross Dobie was in charge of junior congregation. Social News Winners at last week's euchre party were: novelty - Mrs. Eppie Lawrence, high lady - Mrs. Dorothy Grange, low lady - Mrs. Lillian Letherland, high man - Clarence Allin and low man - Arnold Craig. Mrs. Lillian Letherland visited for a few days last week with her friend Mrs. Blakker at Stratford. Halloween Party The Goderich Township Halloween party, held October 31, at the Goderich Township Community Centre was a success. The Recreation Committee, which sponsored the event, thanks all who participated. Mark Reihl won the overall prize for best costume. Break dancers Mhan Tran and Jason Bennett entertained the crowd. The Goderich Township Women's In- stitute next meeting is scheduled for November 12, at 8 p.m:, at the community centre. "Wills and Why You Should Have One" is the planned topic. Enterprising Seniors entertain Ever, YoungClub of Bayfield HOLMESVII.I.F - An enjoyable evening was held in the Community Centre, Holmesville last Thursday evening when The Enterprising Seniors entertained The Ever Young Club of Bayfield. There were 10 tables of euchre in play and five courts of shuffleboard. Winners at euchre were: ladies' high, Fern Baker; ladies' low, Beulah Smith; men's high, Helen Pearson; men's low, Lillian Penhale; lone hands, Pearl Hutchings.
