Goderich Lawn Bowlers meet
The lawn bowling season is over for
another year and on October 11, the
members held their annual fall meeting and
pot luck supper, at the Meneset Park club
house. A meal was enjoyed by some fifty
members and friends.
Afterwards, President Florence
McFarlane conducted the meeting, thank-
ing all those who served on the various com-
mittees and anyone else who helped in any
way during the past season.
Reports were read and Arthur Young fill-
ed the station of secretary, in the absence of

Goderich Novices made a dramatic
comeback in the last two minutes, to tie a
Shamrock league game, played Saturday, in
Exeter, leaving the score knotted at 4-4.
After a scoreless first period, Exeter
scored one goal in the second and three in
the third and were leading Goderich 4-1,
when Jason Meriam scored for Goderich at
13:13 of period three.
Dave Lumley and Bryan Hodges followed
Meriam, with goals at 14:33 and 14:43
respectively to tie the contest. Hodges also
scored earlier in the third, at 7:26, making it
a two -goal game for him.
Hodges also earned two assists, with
single helpers earned by Lumley and Derek
Gilchrist.
Sunday, in Lucan, Hodges came up with
four goals, to lead the Novices to a victory
over the Lucan Squad.
Other Goderich goals were scored by Jeff
Klages and Mike McBride. Assists went to
Jason Merriam, three; Dave Lumley, two;
Lee Williamson, one and Derek Gilchrist,
one.
Bridge scores
The Goderich Duplicate Bridge Club held
an eight table Mitchell game on Tuesday,
October 9 under the direction of Eleanor Er-
skine.
Buelah Long. The treasurer, Bea Aberhart
gave her report which was well received
and showed that with the co-operation of the
members, it was a very successful year.
A draw was held during the summer on a
handmade quilt, and at the fall meeting a
draw was held on a handmade ladies leather
handbag, donated by a new member;
George Mason. The lucky person was
Dorothy Smythe, wife of the greenskeeper.
Alively discussion was held, concerning
the yearly fees and it was decided the dues
for 1985 remain the same as the 1984 season.
Some work has still to be done on the greens
and a work party was asked to meet on
Tuesday, October 16, weather permitting.
After closing the meeting the Members
were entertained with slides and commen-
tary by Al Lawson, on Englands many chur-
ches and beautiful countryside. Without
leaving their chairs, a very appreciative au-
dience weretransported to England and
Scotland.
The new club house is taking shape and
the roof and brickwork is to be completed in
the next few weeks.

207 and 542. Olive Gilbert led her team with
a 551. Tulips managed five points this week,
with a 231 and 633 by Janet Rumig and 215
from Irene Sparks. High for the Roses was
Vi deHaas with 526 and Helen Durnin with a
206 single.
Karen Pounder, of the Sweet Peas, turned
in a 301, 287 and 782 to lead her team to five
points from the Tiger "I Allies", whose high
lady for the day was Dianne Leddy with 541.
THURSDAY NIGHT LADIES
Barb Pigg, with a triple of 579 and Sheila
Brownlee's triple of 540, tried hard to
challenge the What Not's, but Linda Rodger
had three good games to give her a triple of
636 to help take all seven points.
Spare Parts took five off the Wallbangers.-
Kim Langlois had a good game of 203, while
for the Wallbangers, Dianne Scott had the
high triple of 482. Flo Robinson also had a
185 game.
Nighthawks and Team Canada had three
close games, but the Nighthawks took two
games with Team Canada taking one game
and total pins. Barb Little bowled a 451 tri-
ple and Celia Drennan a 456.
.-The Alleycats went undefeated from the
Yo Yo's, as Marj Smith's triple was 577. Lois
Armstrong, a new bowler with the
Alleycats, had a terrific game of 177.
YBC RESULTS
BY TIP
In Bowling Action this week, Tim Main led
the Four Aces to a 5-2 victory over the Triple
Strikes, bowling a 227 single and a 516 triple.
Terry Chambers helped to earn 2 points with
a 465 triple.
Head Pins Revenge also won a 5-2 decision
over the Strike Outs. Suzanne Pollock led
the team, with a 242 single and a 589 triple.
Her triple beat her average by 151 pins.
Julie Melick led the Strike Outs with a 480
triple.
Strike Zone II took seven points from the
Pin Busters, with the help of some great
bowling by Calvin Knight. All three of
Calvin's games were well over his average
and his triple at 580 was 130 pins over his
average. Jeff Coulter had high triple for the
Pin Busters with a 524.
The Pin Strikers split a 5-2 decision with
the Gutter Bowlers. Dave Brenner led the
Pin Strikers with a 513 triple. Ken Webb had
the high triple for the Gutter Bowlers with a
505.
The Lane Bruisers stole seven points from
the Little Bowlers. I say "stole' seven
points because the Lane Bruisers had a total
team handicap of 303 pins. Even a 290 single
and 666 triple, from Little Bowler's Captain
Grant Langlois, could not earn the team any
points. But we must give credit to Jeff
Powell who led his team with a 488 triple
which was 92 pins over his average.
