(Photos by Joanne Buchanan) Festival Singers celebrate Yes, the Blyth Festival Singers are swing- ing enthusiastically into their fifth season, and invite you to a Year Five celebration concert at Blyth Memorial Hall on Satur- day, October 20 at 8 p.m. The Blyth Festival Singers have provided choral music lovers with many enjoyable concerts since the choir was formed in the fall of 1980, under the auspices of the Blyth Festival. Over the years, the choir has per- formed styles and modes from all points on the musical spectrum, pleasing their `Au- diences with well-known classics and also introducing them to exciting new works. In choosing the repertoire for this special celebration concert, the choir director was guided by a poll of "favorites" from present and former choir members. The result is a concert that ranges from Mozart's Ave Verum and Pachelbel's Canon In D to Farewell to Nova Scotia, Cole Porter's Let's Do It, and the Beatles' medley from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Guild starts with comedy The Kincardine Theatre Guild has built a respected reputation for providing en- joyable entertainment to Bruce County over the past three years. Dumb Luck, The Mousetrap, Nurse Jane Goes to Hawaii and A Murder is Announced are some of the plays presented by the Guild, with each pro- duction broadening the scope of the group's capabilities in some way. - Next week the Kincardine Theatre Guild will open its fall production at the Town' Hall. Big Bad Mouse is a comedy - billed by W the Guild as a "farce" - written by Philip King and F.L. Cary. Performance dates are October 19, 20, 25, 27 and 28 with curtain time at 8 p.m. The cast, under the direction of Linda Mielke, has been rehearsing since mid- August Tickets aiavailable at Books and RDT in Kincardine and at the door. Reserved seating is again in effect so that earlier pur- chasers will have the best choice. Telephone orders cannot be accepted. Fall fashions featured at show sponsored by ladies' curling club Fall and winter clothes from Rosemary's were featured at a fashion show sponsored by the Maitland Ladies' Curling Club at The Livery last Wednesday afternoon and even- ing. Rosemary Davison, owner of Rosemary's and commentator for the show, said this season's fashion look is simple, with many variations on clearly defined contours. Fashions ranging from sweaters, leg warmers and housecoats to dresses and tailored suits were worn by local models in color combinations of yellow and mauve, yellow and grey, navy and hot pink, peach and brown, black and white, camel and teal, and pink and taupe. Royal blue, winter white, red and burgundy were also featured, along with a few outfits from Rosemary's new line of maternity wear and the new men's wear look for women. Scarves are an important fashion ac- cessory this year too and many were featured in Rosemary's show to add a splash of color to various outfits.
