Let police be free with weapons
Dear Editor,
A letter to the Honorable Murray Cardiff,
MP,
Dear Murray,
I have taken the liberty of sending copies
of this letter to both The Goderich Signal
Star and The London Free Press, as I feel
that the issues I will mention, are of great
concern to the public, and perhaps my letter
will be an inspiration for others to write you
as well.
The recent killings of police officers has
brought about a renewed demand for the
return of capital punishment, of which I am
also in favor, but has overlooked what I am
sure is a more important issue. I believe
that the regulations which govern a police
officer's use of his weapons should be
ammended to allow the officer more
flexibility, without the presently-inherrant
"red tape", should ; he find himself in a
situation where hs feels his life may be in
danger.
Our officers are well trained and I am
sure would go about their duties, not more
"trigger happy", but certainly with more
security, if they could be free with the use of
their weapons.
I urge you to consider my comments and
to take what action you can, when
parliament is again in session.
Yours very truly,
J. Bruce McCreath
"Save the Child" program
Dear Editor,
We, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, in conjunc-
tion with the Goderich Fire Department,
have initiated the "Save the Child" pro-
gram.
This program involves stickers which are
located on the bedroom windows of children,
the elderly, and the handicapped,
designating the primary areas of rescue in
emergency situations.
Parents are asked to please place these
stickers in,their children's bedroom win-
dows, follog the instructions on the back.
Please remove this sticker if relocating a
child's room or moving to a new residence.
Additional stickers for pre-schoolers, the
elderly, or the handicapped can be obtained
at MacKay Centre, Monday through Friday
8:30 - 11:30 a.m. and 1 - 3 p.m., or ...corn the
Goderich Fire Department.
Our children are our future - love them.
Yours truly,
Beta Sigma Phi

wanted, abused and abandoned cats and
dogs or indeed any animal—thus used in
Huron County. Let it not be said we fell down
in our Christian duty to those helpless
creatures who have a right to depend upon
us for food, care and love.
"What is man without the beasts? If all
the beasts were gone, man would die from
great loneliness of spirit for whatever hap-
pens to the beasts happens to man. All
things are connected."
