Bulky weight yarn with natural content is the big seller for people knitting their own sweaters and most styles are loose fitting - great for figure conscious people. Some of the models in the show wore their own creations, and crocheting was featured along with the other fashions. Women who make their own clothes -and even those who don't -were given a special treat last Wednesday when Gen's Singer Sewing Centre of Goderich sponsored a fall fashion show at the Legion hall. The show featured a wide variety of hand sewn, hand knit and machine knit clothes for both children and adults. They were paraded before an afternoon and evening audience by nine local models and seven children. Materials and patterns for all the clothes featured in the show are carried by Gen's store on The Square. - Patrick Madden, commentator for the show, announced that this fall's fashions are both fresh and wearable. They include long and lean silhouettes, soft pleating details, beautiful blouses, body conscious dresses, Huron 4-H member goes to Wisconsin Elizabeth Stewart, daughter of Joan and mote and sponsor an educational program Mac Stewart of R.R. 1 Dublin is one of four which will provide a better understanding of 4-H members from Western Ontario who the operations involved in production, pro - has been chosen to attend the 30th National cessing, marketing and use of dairy pro - 4 -H Dairy Conference in Madison, Wiscon- ducts. Organizer Brubacher, of the Retail Mer- chants Association of Canada, is working in Goderich and surrounding towns and Friday evening last, the Dominion Secretary, Mr. E. M. Trowern, addressed a gathering of merchants at the council chamber. Follow- ing the meeting, it was decided by the mer- chatits to form a local chapter. The Cloak Factory is now rising and as it will be the first building of cement blocks in Goderich, its construction will be watched with intrest. The Goderich Business College is still receiving pupils, all of whom are delighted with the training they receive. 50 YEARS AGO Goderich recently had two cases of typhoid fever, thought to have originated in the same house. Tests showed there were no typhoid germs in the water and milk being distributed locally. Nearly 20 children with disabilities at- tended the Lions 'Club's free cline at the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital this week. In a strange twist of events, council ended up approving the project of the Goderich Sailing Club, despite the fact the matter never got to the table for approval. The pavillion, basically a shelter for the sailing club members, got approved by last year's council, but is only now getting underway. Goderich Town Council will have one ob- jection' and a possible legal hassle to con- tend with, when it looks at approving a draft of the Goderich District Heritage Plan later this month. Goderich planning board learn- ed Tuesday that the plan had at least one ob- jection lodged against it and a recommenda- tion from planning board to council to ap- prove it, may have been illegal.
