A EspoRT8 Maitland Club holds awards nig The closing dinner for the ladies section of the Maitland Country Club was held September 25, with the tenths ladies hosting the dinner. A total of 15 ladies braved the rainy weather to complete nine.holes. In the first flight, Maxiime Martin scored the low gross, while Ardith Brissette shot the low net and Verna Kane was tops in putts. Low gross wiumer in flight two was Joan McDougall. Bev Jeffrey was low net winner and Rosemarie Evans led the second flight putters. Verne Frith shot the low gross in flight three and Pauly. McKellar shot the low net score. Ruth Keene was top putter. A draw for a Cabbage Patch doll, donated by Joyce Shack, was held. The winner was Mrs. June Miller, 151, Elizabeth St. Jean Bell sold the winning ticket. The new ladies golf executives for 1985 are: Irla Stewart, president; Edna 'Looker, past president; Janet Gemmill, vice- president; Bev Jeffrey, secretary - treasurer; Joan McDougall, sports captain; Chris Hoffmeyer, assistant sports captain; Edna Looker, handicap Auleen Currie, social; Sally MacEwan and Grace Neville, assistant social. ( photo by Patrick Raft's) Sunset Golf League wraps up The final men's night and ladies' night for the season were held last week at Sunset Golf Club. The following people were the top men's night golfers: overall low gross, Tony Bedard; overall low net, Bill Chisholm; first flight low gross, Ticker Mero; first flight low net, Al McDonald; second flight low gross, Larry Gaynor; low net, Jack Trebish; third flight low gross, Jim Mero: low net, Ron Harris. First flight second low net, Bob McDougall; second flight second low net, Frank Graham; third flight second low net Gerard Bedard. Although some golfers did risk facing the cold weather on ladies' night, no points were awarded. Hully Gully hots final motocross The Grand Finale of Motocross was held on Sunday, at Hully Gully Raceway near Varna, Ontario. The event was the last scheduled motocross at Hully Gully for the 1984 season. It was also an Ontario Points race for Seniors and Experts. Many of the province's finest riders competed for points in this prestigious award. Canadian motocross Association high point winners were also awarded with their regular awards and overall season awards. Results are as follows: - Schoolboy 80A- Rick Tripodi, Markham; Marty Burr, Caledonia; Todd Townend,. Stouffville. Schoolboy 80B- Bill Hamilton, Guelph; Michael Vallee, Tillsonburg; Jim Jervis, Burlington. Junior 12SA - Tim Rayner, Brantford; Lino Zecca, Midhurst; GOODtEW1 David Marcella, Kitchener. Albert; Rob Hodgson, Cambridge; Jeff Sutherland, Woodslee. The final round of the 1984houseleague motocross season was held last Saturday, with over 70 riders competing. Clear skies and warm temperatures helped to make the day a success. The best race of the day had to be the Junior B. Brian Keys, of Seaforth outran Glenn Emery, of London, to finish first overall for the day and went on to win the season championships by one point. Frank Mousseau, of Hensall won the Enduro A with 91 points. Sean Thomas, of London won the Pee Wee C class with an un- precedented 165 points. Planning for the 1985 houseleague season is well underway, the dates will be announced sometime in December.
