McNEIL
In loving memory of o daughter and a sister,
Mary Lou, who passed away one year ago Sept.
29.
We often sit and think of you,
And think of how you died,
To think you couldn't say goodbye,
Before you closed your eyes.
The blow was hard, the shock severe,
We never thought your death so near,
And only those who have lost can tell,
The pain of parting without farewell,
It's sad but true, we wonder why,
The best are always the first to die.
Forever loved, and never forgotten by Mom,
Dad, brothers and families, -40

But in our hearts he is always there.

OFA encouraged by
government response
The Ontario Federation of Agriculture
-(OFA) is encouraged by the provincial
government's response to its recommenda-
tions on stabilization:
In July, the OFA suggested that the On-
tario government develop a bi-partite
stabilization plan when legislation for a tri-
partite plan at the federal level died on the
order paper.
September 12 in Toronto, when a delega-
tion from the OFA presented its annual brief
to the provincial cabinet, agriculture
minister Dennis Timbrell announced that if
legislation for a tri -partite plan isn't passed
by the federal government by January 1,
1985, the province would develop a bipartite
stabilization plan.
"Ideally, a tri -partite concept would be
better for farmers, and we have Prime
Minister -elect Mulroney's commitment to
get ,the legislation through the House of
Commons quickly," OFA president, Harry
Pelissero, said. "But if there is some delay,
I'm pleased to know that the province is
willing to provide the much needed
assistance to red meat producers."
Red meat stabilization is like an in-
surance plan, intended to help farmers who

tri -partite plan, "premiums" would be paid
by the federal and participating provincial
government, and by farmers who want to
participate in the program. Under a bi-
partite plan, the provincial government and

When the market price of a particular
commodity falls below what is deemed to be
an adequate level, the stabilization plan
would pay out. This would alleviate the im-
pact which the fluctuations in market prices'
have on farmers.
Pelissero said he was pleased with the
reception the OFA's brief was given by
Premier Davis and his cabinet. "We made
45 recommendations in six very important
areas of concern. The OFA will be working
to see that something constructive is done
with our ideas," Pelissero said. The areas
covered in the brief were financing, land
use, marketing, labour, the role of farm
women and education.
.41. One of the recommendations was that the
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food
(OMAF,) develop a pamphlet on careers in
agriculture for use by guidance counsellors.
