(Bluewater Photography ) Staff liaison committee established Hospital Chief of Staff Dr. Michael Con- lon informed the hospital board that a Medical -Nursing Staff Liaison Committee has been established. The Medical Advisory Committee agreed unanimously at a recent meeting that such a committee should be formed, "to insure the on-going good relationship between the medical and nursing staff of the hospital," said Dr. Conlon. The MAC decided that this committee should consist of executives of the medical staff, the director of nursing, two head nurses and one supervisor. It was also determined the Liaison committee should deal with general and non -clinical pro- blems only. Nursing Director Joyce Shack said, in her report to the board, that earlier this summer there seemed to be some. difficul- ty with respect to the relationship between the Head Nurse Supervisory Group and the Medical Staff. The formation of the Liaison Committee is a response to those difficulties,, she stated. .GOET of EB N A STORE FULL OF BEAUTIFUL FURNITURE On the Main Street 'of Dublin 345-2250 Free Delivery iertson Round -up LOCAL NEWS pUDERICHSIGNAl TAR, lal PAY; t•cBER3; i$4 +A "1E:7 • First Open House of the year held Welcome to a new year of Robertson Roundup. For our Junior wing classes, our school principal, Mr. Smith was hoping for a turnout of about 200 parents. The parents had lots to see and were very proud of the ef- forts their children had put into their work. - By Abby Smallwood and Michelle Moore At the Open House, parents were listen- ing, talking and laughing. This was a time when parents could visit the classrooms and meet the teachers.- By Colin MacKinnon Teachers with new jobs The coming of fall brought many changes to the school system, especially for the new Grade 7 students. One of the biggest of these changes is the start of the rotary system, which includes weekly trips to Victoria for "Shop" (Industrial Arts) and Home Economics (Family Studies). Although last year, schools experimented with sending girls to Shop and vice -versa, '84 is the first year girls and boys are required to take both courses.. Mr. Reid, the new shop teacher, doesn't treat girls as outcasts in a "man's" place but as equals, who are as much a part of his class as the boys. Safety is also a major im- portance and each student is required to write a license telling about the parts, operation of the machine, and safety precautions before he dr she is allowed to operate the mac . For those who aren't the "nail and hider" type, Mr. Reid of- fers a variety of projects ranging from signs to pizza servers. Mr. Reid has shown us, as well as others, that shop is fun for all.- By Nadja Davidson and Shelby Johnston Mrs. Hallman finds teaching a full grade very different than remedial. She has a chance now to teach more than just math and spelling. Art is her favourite subject. Mrs. Hallman will be with the class all year and both she and the children are looking forward to Mrs. Scratch returning after Christmas.- By Jacki Rau and Alana Grah. Mr. and is the School Resource Teacher for Robertson Memorial. We asked Mr. Bond how his job differed from last year and he said the main difference was that he isn't working with a classroom of people.- By Aaron Duckworth and Michael Bottcher. Mrs. Smith has a new job this year as a Grade 7 teacher for rotary. She enjoys hav- ing her own room and she is enjoying her job this year even more than last, even though she misses the younger kids. She enjoys teaching rotary music. She didn't really mind if there were more girls thanboys. She likes teaching and would much rather be at school than at home" watching soap operas. We tried and we tried but we couldn't get her age.- By Dorle Anne MacLennan and Andrea Horton. KATIMAVI!K (all the way from Quebec) Natalie Gendron, one of the Katimavik students, arrived in Goderich on September 19th from her last placement in moun- tainous British Columbia. All the Katimavik students have rented a house and live together. Their jobs vary; some work at schools, such as Natalie who works at Robertson, some with handicapped children and some work at the museum and other places where they are needed. Natalie started this nine month communi- ty work on June 20 and will finish on March 20. Natalie is 18 years old and lives in Drum- mondville, Quebec. She would like to make her career as a Social Worker with foster children. Natalie loves the beach and lake here in Goderich and finds the weather warmer here than British Columbia. Natalie will be heading close to home soon as she goes to Montreal after leaving Goderich. - By Becky Penn Huronview News Residents wares readyfor bazaar get HURQNVIEW - On September 24 the usual events such as cards and crafts took place, and a good number of residents participate in this.
