The 250 Mod was one of the fastest races that ran. Riders were hitting speeds of close to 60 miles per hour on the straightaway. Jeff Howe, of Minden winner of the first moto, pulled the hole shot in the second moto followed by Chuck Collins of Varna, who finished second in the first moto. At the half way point Collins passed Howe at the double jumps and never looked back. They rode side by side for half a lap, when Howe's front tire hit the back end of Collins' ATV pulling Howe into the snowfence.
