Sherry Hodges elected council president

Election of the Students' Council was held
on Wednesday, September 18, after an
assembly to hear the campaign speeches of
the candidates.
The Students' Council for 1984-1985 is:
President - Sherry Hodges; Vice -President -
Scott Gibson; Secretary - Paul Dawson;
Treasurer - Laurie Hayden.
The room representatives are - Room 12 -
Mark Robson; Room 11 - Tanya Turner;
Room 10 - Linda Hayden; Room 9 - Mary
Ellen MacKenzie; Room 8 - Dennis Park;
Room 7 - Nathan Daer; Mr. Sygroves Room
- Stuart Bakker.
Many students have joined the 50 km. club
and are enthusiastically jogging around the
track at recess.
Brookside received first prize for the float
in the parade at the Lucknow Fall Fair.
Special thanks to Mr. Cameron and those
who helped in the decorating of the float.
Brookside also participated in the tug of war
at-Lucknow Fall Fair.
The Teachers Federation is holding a ban-
quet meeting at White Carnation, on
September 26 for Key Teachers and new
teachers. This will include Key Teacher,
Mrs. Graham and new teachers, Miss
Garland and Miss Jewitt.
French is off to a good start. Mr. Hooft-
man says students have learned what a
teacher expects of them and are ready for a
good year.
Kindergarten classes had a preying man-
tis in their classroom for a few days. _
Mrs. Young's Grade 1 class has been
working on their bear booklets and also lear-
ning their colour words. They have been
painting many rainbows due to the rainy
weather.
Miss Jewitt's Grade 2 class has been busy
collecting leaves, seeds and stem cuttings to
start a miniature garden. By spring, they
hope to have a room full of flowers.
Grade 3 pupils, in library period with Mrs.
Blake, have been using the dictionaries and
learning alphabetical order of words.
Mrs. Blake is starting a Safety Theme in
the Library with primary children.
Couple_ attend reunion in Paisley Church
Charles and Mayme Wilkins attended the
Wilkins-Frair reunion in Paisley on Sunday.
It was held in the Paisley United Church.
The monthly meeting of the W.M.S.
Ashfield Presbyterian Church was held
Thursday evening at the home of Elaine Col-
lins.

British Columbia is home now for a week's
holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Art Mathewman.
Mrs. Russell ( Lesley) Moncrief of
Aylmer, and son Scott visited at the home of
George and Betty Moncrief for a couple of
days.
Louise Millar of Palmerston and Florence
MacLennan of Kitchener were home a cou-
ple of days with their mother Rhetta
MacLennan. When Louise went home the
first of the week Rhetta returned to
Palmerston with her for a couple of days
visit. •
Mrs. Dorothy ( D.A.) MacLennan had her
daughter Margaret (Bubbles) Heffernan of
London with her for the weekend.
