Who was the original owner and did the property change ownership in the year suc- ceeding its opening? Is it in operation today, perhaps for some other purpose? If the answers to my questions are not in your line of work, perhaps there is an ar- chive or historical society to whom you may see best to refer my inquiry. Dear Editor: Please accept the thanks of the Huron Historic Gaol Board for the coverage you have given to this unique tourist attraction this season. To date this year over 16,000 people have visited,,the Gaol. The hard-working curator, Harold' Erb, and his fine staff of young peo- ple provided a number of special events as they interpreted an interesting part of local history for the public. Crocker Secretary Huron Historic Gaol Board Fact -finder appointed in negotiations with teachers The Educati&i Relations Commission has appointed Prof. Gene Deszca of Waterloo to act as fact finder in the negotiations between the secondary teachers and the trustees of the Huron County Board of Education. Prof. Deszca will meet with the parties and write a report setting out which matters have been agreed upon and which matters remain in dispute. The report may also con- tain recommendations for settlement. Professor Deszca is affiliated with the Business School at Wilfrid Laurier Universi- ty in Waterloo. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario (M.B.A.), he has taught courses in Organizational Behaviour and Industrial Relations at St Francis Xavier, Queen's and York Universities and is involved in Train- ing and Development in private and public sector organizations. He also has experience in Labour Rela- tions at the municipal level. His previous fact finding appointments in- clude; Northumberland and Newcastle Elementary and Secondary, Lanark Secon- dary, Timmins Secretary, and Hastings Prince Edward RCSS. This appointment is made under Section 14 of the School Boards and Teachers Collec- tive Negotiations Act. There were 107 people in attendance. Guest speaker was Mr. Loug tarter, pro- ject Biologist for Hullett Wildlife Authority situated north-east of Clinton. In his presen- tation Mr. Puffer used slides to show the work that had been 'accomplished in this area with 20 km. of dykes and ponds, the planting of trees and the rotation of cover crops to protect birds and other wildlife. This authority also belongs to Ducks Unlimited, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserve and restore natural habitat for waterfowl. Not only has this area become More populated with waterfowl but many muskrats, fox, mink and raccoons can also be found. Pheasants are hatched and raised in the area. Hunters are allowed in at certain times of the year.
