Would like inforrnation on
former Goderich Sunset Hotel
Your Soybeans and Corn
to Hensall •Co -o
Dear editor:
I am interested in the origin and history of
the Sunset Hotel which operated in Goderich
prior to 1914 and perhaps later.
Who was the original owner and did the
property change ownership in the year suc-
ceeding its opening? Is it in operation today,
perhaps for some other purpose?
If the answers to my questions are not in
your line of work, perhaps there is an ar-
chive or historical society to whom you may
see best to refer my inquiry.
Your reply will be anpreciated, trustine

you will find it possible to provide or refer
me to information concerning the former
Sunset Hotel in Goderich.

Dear Editor:
Please accept the thanks of the Huron
Historic Gaol Board for the coverage you
have given to this unique tourist attraction
this season.
To date this year over 16,000 people have
visited,,the Gaol. The hard-working curator,
Harold' Erb, and his fine staff of young peo-
ple provided a number of special events as
they interpreted an interesting part of local
history for the public.
We appreciate the thoughtful articles you
have published and know that they helped to
bring people to the Gaol.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs. R.J. Crocker

Club learns of restoration
work at Mullett area
The Goderich Garden Club met at Robert-
son School, Sept. 19 and entertained seven
area Garden Clubs and reprggsentatives
from the Maitland Trail Assd'ciation and
Maitland Conservation Authority. There
were 107 people in attendance.
Guest speaker was Mr. Loug tarter, pro-
ject Biologist for Hullett Wildlife Authority
situated north-east of Clinton. In his presen-
tation Mr. Puffer used slides to show the
work that had been 'accomplished in this
area with 20 km. of dykes and ponds, the
planting of trees and the rotation of cover
crops to protect birds and other wildlife.
This authority also belongs to Ducks
Unlimited, a non-profit organization
dedicated to preserve and restore natural
habitat for waterfowl. Not only has this area
become More populated with waterfowl but
many muskrats, fox, mink and raccoons can
also be found. Pheasants are hatched and
raised in the area. Hunters are allowed in at
certain times of the year.
Draws were made for 16 door prizes and
tickets sold on a floral church and a hat for a
door decoration. -
The next meeting of the Goderich Garden
Club will be Oct. 17 when a speaker from
The Royal Botanical Gardens will speak on
