Did you know that for a long time - many
many years - there was a tunnel under the •
railroad tracks going into the Sifto mine - on
the North Road? Apparently you could duck
through from the Harbour and into the
river, in a small, boat, that is,!
Somehow, I had never heard of it - but now
that it no longer exists, I'd like to know more
about it. Why is it not needed now? Will the
changes to be made soon in that area create
a need for this again? 524-7854 is my number
or perhaps a letter to the Signal would be
nice- sounds interesting, anyway.
So many people are really trying to quit
smoking - something that is really hard to
do. If your doctor hasn't given up on you -
they can get pretty discouraged, you know -
-then ask- him about-dding,e Xtra
"A" enriched foods to your diet. I hear it can
really help. Remember, other people worry
about you heavy smokers - your health - and
their own lungs from the second-hand
smoke. Good Luck!
For some time now, I've been having trou-
ble with foods - foods I've loved all my life
and now they have become troublemakers!
I read that one man discovered when he
dropped tomatoes from his burger and
salads, he also dropped his headaches!!
I've tried it a few times and found I not on-
ly dropped the headaches - something I
seldom ever had - but I dropped the fat lip,
swollen face, the itchy lumps and all the ir-
ritation that goes with it.
Now, I just have to sort out what the other'
no -noes are! I just can't believe this is hap-
pening to me - one who always enjoyed her
food!
Someone said, "Tomatoes and potatoes
belong to the nightshade family. The deadly
-?" Well, I might go easy with tomatoes
but I'm sure I can't give up potatoes! - Well,
it rhymes, how about THAT!
I hope you escaped the flu -bug - a
miserable type that seems to be making the
rounds. After that blast of cold air during
the baseball play-offs here, Walt ends up
with the o-oops-flu bug and a great, big cold.
Then, I get it and for about three days we
both just sleep - and don't eat. That was just
terrible! To add to my misery, I hear geese
honking overhead. Going south so soon?
The maple trees near hear are really
heavy with large "wings". THICK - also
pretty. Then someone mentions how heavily
laden the fruit bushes and trees have been -
and the squirrels are REAL busy! I love our
fall season - but do you think it is trying to
tell us something?
By the time the sun shines again - it is
raining 'while I am writing - it should have
turned a lot of the trees. Our countryside is
beautiful in the fall - and you just can't get
lost around here. Oh, you may end ep in
Clinton or Kintardine but it is still a nice
trip!
Here's a bit to add to the Vitamin bit you
read earlier - "By supplementing your diet,
you can slow down the aging process by
keeping in good health. By taking Vitamin
A, B complex, C and D plus Vita E - you keep
more youthful looking. Vitamin A is essen-
tial for the structure and membranes of the
skin is also needed for vital healthy scalp
and hair." All good advice - I'm trying, I'm
trying!
Love,
Martha.
