The Goderich Signal-Star, 1984-09-12, Page 10i. were are, BY.PASTOW'BARRY VRIEND, TRINITY CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH One truth the Bible keeps stressing is that there are only two ways to live. It is either the way of Cain or the way of Abel; the way of Jacob or Esau; the way of the righteous or the way of the wicked. There are always these two ways and every one of us must choose between the two. When Jesus started preaching,. He picked up that Biblical theme and stressed that it was either the "broad way" or the "narrow way". Jesus said that most people are on the E, ` Jto ljve MINISTER'S STLSOY brnacl ,way and are headed for destruction. Ile also said- that the narrovid, Way is hard, and few people are travelling that way. Jesus also made it clear that the narrow way was the only responsible way to go. It is the way that leads to "life". Tp experience life in its fullest, to experience the happiness that pod gives, and to experience the joys in the home of God, youjnust travel the Bar- row way. The two ways are as different as night and day. One is easy — primarily because it is all downhill. On the broad way, you serve yourself, make your own rules and are head- ed for destruction. The other way is hard — primarily because it is all uphill. You have to deny yourself and "pick up your cross". You have to turn your back to the crowd, and suffer ridicule because of the way you .are -living, it iswalways decidedly unp, 09jAar,, to travel the narrow way. However, there is also great advantage to travelling the narrow way. Actually. there are very many advantages. The most im- portant advantage is- that the narrow way leads to "eternal life" with the Lord. The narrow way is the way of 'life" rather than the way of "death". When people take a bus, they are careful to know which bus it is and where it is going. When you travel the road of life, it is much more important to know what road you're on and where the road will end up. "Enter by the narrow gate," the Lord says. "Travel the narrow way." Do you know the road? Have you decided t0 live that way? The Lord tells us the rewards are considerable, and they go far beyond this earthly life. r u Mr: and Mrs. Scott Ruetz Deborah Lynn MacCuspey and Scott John Ruetz were joined in marriage July 28 at `3":30 rl.m. at St. 13 eresa's Roman Catholic Unwell, 'Kitchener.
