Hydro's get
back to
work.
We're Ontario Hydro's 1,500
electrical construction workers.
We built the utility from the
ground up.
We've been on sri ikc since
May 7. We don't like it In 32 years we've
,worked with pride in our industi y with
only three strikes. We .negotiate
honourably and fairly.
This time we want to keep the room
and board allowance we -have already with
Hydro and are willing to accept a realistic
settlemer>t.
That's all.
As fellow taxpayers we ask you to
think about this.
Our prop6'sal adds up to less than the
provincial government's live percent
restraint limit. Ontario 1Iydro's revers es
last year were nearly $4.00(1,000,0Ot). This
strike can be sct,t led' for $btrt),t.)elt).
Why do you thunk antariu 1lv leu is
prolonging this strike when it
already gave 4.800 management
staff an-mcrcase of fiye percent -
plus benefits? Do you think it's
lair?
finlike Ontario Il ydro's permanent
staff. electricians have no guarantee of
steady or long term, job prospects. We
spend long periods away from our fami•
-
lies. We often work round the clock, in
difficult and dangerous conditions. And
we're proud of what we do.
We built a world-class system for the
taxpayers of the province and very respect-
able profits for Mother Hydro.
So we don't like to see $6 billion in
construction projects standing idle, while
our friends in the other trades get laid off.
Do i:t you think it's time Ontario.
I Iydro management got back to work?

construction
on regional
house begins.
On Wednesday, August 22, the commence-
ment of construction of the Ronald
McDonald douse built in London was
celebrated. Approximately 150 people
gathered to watch as the last load of cement
was poured on the footings of the structure.
A time capsule to be placed under the en-
trance to the house was presented to eight-
year-old Bradley /Perry of St. Thomas.
Bradley, currently under treatment for
cancer at War Memorial Children's
Hospital, is the spokeschild for the project.
The Ronald McDonald House is a home -
away -from -home for families of children
referred to London's hospitals for diagnosis
and treatment of serious childhood il-
lnesses. Located on the grounds of
Westminster Campus of Victoria Hospital, it
will be within walking distance to the new
Children's Hospital, also currently under
construction.
Fund-raising has been active since the
project began in October 'of 1983. To date,
$650,000 of the $900,000 goal has been raised
throughout Southwestern Ontario. More
projects are planned for this fall.
The 12 -family home will open in May of
1985, to become the sixth such house in
Canada. Southwestern Ontario Children's
Care Incorporated, a registered charitable
organization is building and will operate the
House. It is composed of representatives

Here are two more old post cards provided by Dorothy Gauley of Goderich. The top card
depicts the Goderich Band, winners of third prize at the C.N. Exhibition in Toronto in 1927.
We have no information about the bottom card except that the young women pictured on it

Ontario wheat producers
goon to receive payment
Ontario wheat producers will'soon receive
the final payment on their 1983 crop sales.
The Ontario Wheat Producers' Marketing
Board announced plans to make the pay-
ment following receipt of the board's
audited statements on August 21, 1984, at a
meeting held in Chatham.
Board chairman, Robert Holmes of R.R.2
St. Pauls, said the payment will amount to
$7.37 per tonne on all wheat sold by pro-
ducers during the 1983 crop year which
covers the period July 1, 1983 through June
30, 1984.
• Hesaid plans are being made to have the
payment made by the board during the
week of September 10, to about 16,500 pro-
ducers, covering the second largest crop
sold through the board at 749,000 tonne. The
record was set in 1977 when producers
delivered 854,000 tonne to the board.
Holmes advised that all stocks of the 1983
crop have sold with 287,000 tonne sold
domestically and 461,000 tonne being ex
ported by the board.
