Round one of the Goderich Men's Slo-
Pitch League playoffs is over, with the ex-
- ception of one game. By the time this goes to
print, the outcome of the Renegade - 1863
game, which will decide the final play-off
spot in C Division, will be known.
Green Machine, as expected, took the C1
spot and will face the winner of the above
game in a 2 of 3 series, while Garb & Gear
plays host to Ultramar. In B Division,
Coyotes face Little Bowl while Gas Rite
takes on Century 21. "A" Division features
Ideal Supply against Auto Sales and Cana-
dian Tire agafot Chrysler. All 6 series are
the best 2 of 3, commencing Aug. 28 and
finishing Sept. 12. The two winners from
each division then advance to the Divisional
Championships.
While those teams prepare for Round
Two, six teams have packed it in for the
season. - Among the surprising early exits
are the Port Albert Bulldogs, Goderich
Elevators and Ernies Road House. Joining
them are Dearborn Steelers. and Sifto Salt
Shafters. These teams have all had 22
games this season, plus tournaments and
hopefully a good time!

Did you know that the Point Farm Hotel,
huilt in 18779 by J.J. Wright, was, demolished
in 1924 due to a lumber shortage by the Mer-
cantile Salvage Company? Wright built the
hotel for what he called "tired, run-down ci-
ty folk" who wanted "good, clean, fresh
country air". Hotel guests enjoyed baseball,
lawn bowling, tennis, shooting matches, pic-
nicking
ianicking and swimming ... and the tradition
of recreation and relaxation is carried on to-
day at Point Farms Provincial Park.
