Stratford Festival seeks mew artistic 0:dor
The Stratford Festival is,now seeking a
new artistic director to assume the position
at the end of the 1985 season.
In order to ensure the smooth transition of
artistic directors, the Stratford Festival
maintains a permanent Continuity Commit-
tee. For the past -several" months that Com-
mittee has conducted an extensive series of
consultations with a wide range of senior
theatre professionals, representatives of.
government cultural agencies and certain
distinguished individuals with a long-term
interest in the Stratford Festival. The pur-
pose of those discussions was to assemble a
range of informed opinions and ideas about
the ideal structure for the Stratford Festival
and to identify possible candidates to carry
that structure forward,
The Continuity Committee is now expand-
ed from its eight -member structure to in-,
elude representatives from the Festival
Senate, the Acting Company, Canadian Ac-
tors' Equity Association, senior ad-
ministrative and production staffs and one
member appointed by the Search Commit-
tee. Ronald Bryden is chairman of the
newly -constituted Search/Co-.tinuity Com-
mittee.
The Committee is in the process of screen-
ing prospective candidates and soliciting
judgments on their suitability. As part of its
mandate, the Search/Continuity Committee
is committed to finding a new artistic direc-
tor
irectfor who is either a Canadian or someone who
already has made a commitment to Canada
and Canadian theatre. The successful can-
didate must be willing to devote his or her
full time to the Stratford Festival.
Although current Festival Artistic Direc-
tor John Hirsch's contract expires at the end
of the 1985 season, the Board of Governors is
pleased to announce that Mr. Hirsch will
direct one production in both the 1986 and
1987 seasons, subject to the agreement of all
parties involved.
It is the intention of the Search/Continuity
Committee to have the screening process
completed and to present the Board of
Governors with a recommendation for Mr, -
Hirsch's successor by mid-September. Sub-
ject to approval of the candidate by the
Board of Governors, negotiation of ar-
rangements (including a contract) would
`Vegas pizzazz' presented at Western F
In 1983, for the first time, Western Fair of
fered grandstand audiences a top-notch
package of acts direct from the entertain-
ment capital of the . world - Las Vegas.
Response was sapositive that the format is
being repeated this year and "Vegas Piz-
zazz" will bring sparkling Las Vegas -type
entertainment to London once again. Five
electrifying acts are including in the fast -
paced 90 -minute show.
Danny Gans is. 'everybody. The
impressionist=comedian-singer-actor has a
repertoire of about 100 impressions, ranging
from' Presley and Diamond to Anka and
Sinatra, from Wellman Jai and Mr. T to
Kermit, Miss Piggy and E.T. His elastic
voice and mirror -perfect mannerisms have
earned him standing ovations at clubs, fairs
and concert halls throughout the continent.
The Footlockers are a trio of ,young
breakdaneers from Los Angeles. They were
finalists on thenationally-syndicated televi-
sion show, Star Search, and their co-
ordination, dexterity and originality will
leave local audiences amazed. Action and
excitement highlight the Footlockers' non-'
stop show.
Izzie Tooinski combines two great forms
of art: juggling and storytelling. This
veteran performer has travelled the world
performing in the U.S., Canada, Mexico,
Israel, Europe and Africa. Izzie is one -of -a-,
kind — his daredevil jugglery (not even the
sharpest of knives or the hottest of fires can•
unnerve him) will astound and mystify and
his stories will,eaptivate the imagination.
Garray and Tomio are ventriloquists ex-
traordinaire. Their unique comedy presen-
tation is unlike any act seen on this conti-
nent. Their quick wit and unusual props add
to the fun as their presentation builds to a
climactic finish that will leave unsuspecting
fairgoers gasping in laughter and astonish-
ment.
The dazzling choreography of the Circuit
Breakers will be spotted throughout the pro-
duction of "Vegas Pizzazz". The
beautifully -costumed troupe features 12
lovely chorus girls in lively routines.

were manufactured before 1973 and did not

BY-LAW No. 63 - 1984
1. By-law No. 63 - 1984 has the following purpose and effect.
By-law 63 of 1984 amends the Comprehensive Restricted Area By-law
No. 29 of 1972 for the Town of Goderich. By-law No. 63 of 1984 will
rezone the subject lands to C3-10 from M1-3, to permit the use of the
subject lands for a broad range of Highway Commercial uses including
an automobile sales and service facility on the subject lands. The
Applicant has applied to redesignate this property on Amendment No.
4 to the Official Plan, from "Industrial" to "Highway Commercial". The
purpose behind thie redesignation is to permit the use of the subject
lands for an automobile sales and service establishment. To
accomodate such a proposed use, the zoning of the property must be
changed from its present zoning of M1-3 to C3-10. The present zoning
of M1-3 was a rezoning by By-law 31 of 1981, and permitted light
industrial uses only. The effect of this proposed rezoning will
therefore be to implement Amendment No. 4 to the Official Plan, and
to permit a broader range of Highway Commercial uses.
In addition, all other zone provisions of By-law 29 of 1972 shall apply
to the lands subject to this by-law.
