As we near the end of round one in the
Goderich Men's Slow -Pitch League
playoffs, several surprises seem to be in the
making.
In "C" Division, Garb & Gear continues to
roll a hot hand as they picked up three wins
this week to boost their record to 4 and 0 and
a first place position.
Murphy's Green Machine is also
undefeated with a 3 and 0 record. They play
Sifto on Tuesday night and then face !'rarb &
Gear on Thursday, at 7:45.. That game
should decide first place, although both
teams will advance to the next round.
The next four positions pre still up for
grabs and will depend on this week's out-
comes. The real surprise is Ultramar, who
finished second, but are winless in three
starts to date.
"B" Division is a mess with three teams
fighting for the top three spots and three
teams still in the running for fourth place.
Century 21 posts a perfect 3-0 record and a
tie for first place, even though they finished
the regular season•in fifth spot.
Little Bowl and Ernie's Road House each "A" Division
have a surprising 0 and 3 record and could Ideal Supply
well be out 6f it if Dearborn can pick up a PP Y
Canadian
win in their next two starts. ChryTire
Chrysler
In "A" Division, Ideal "apply, as ex- Auto Sales
pected, is way out in front — but look who is Bulldogs
right behind them! Canadian Tire, on home Elevators
run power, picked up two wins on Sunday to
move into second place. The Elevators ap- "B" Division
pear to be out of it with an 0 and 4 record Century 21
even though they finished third, and the Coyotes
Bulldogs must still be sipping champagne Gas Rite
from the tournament because they are in Dearborn
fifth place after a second place finish. Little Bowl
Ernie's Road House
It is unlikely that the surprises will stop
here. The first round ends this Thursday and
final standings will be in next week's write-
up. Team representatives including
Coyotes, are reminded of the Rep meting on
Aug. 27, at 9:00 p.m. in the Rec. Office.°
Dance money and/or tickets must be sub-
mitted at this time.
