Don't Miss The Outstanding Savings! 000040000.0000,00 Thirteen couples compete Civic Holiday was men's night at the Maitland Golf and Country Club: The golfing winners were Jim Baird, Ken Hall and Guy Kelly. First' flight winners during ladies' night on August 7' were Maxine Martin, Ardith Brissette and Gerry Mountford. The second flight was won by Jean Hanly, Jean Knight and Joan McDougall. Bud Elliott, Irla Stewart, Auleen Curry, Joyce Shack, Sally MacEwan and Vern Frith won third flight. Closest to pm number one was Edna Looker. Thirteen couples played on August 10 with Jim Booth and Ardith Brissette placing first. Lois McGill and Jack Hoffmeyer were second with Irla Stewart and Murray McGill came in third. The next couples game is Sunday, August 19. Sunset winners Sunset ladies' travelled to Wingham and Walkerton to take part in the golf tournaments there. Winning in Wingham were Dorothy Bourdeau, Thora McPherson, Marj Smith and Ellen Gonnelly. At Walkerton, Dorothy Bourdeau and Ellen Connelly both won first low gross in their flight. Shirley Baechler also won a prize. Sunset's men's 'night winners were; first low pow Coley McDonagh; first low net, Phil Arthur; first flight low gross, Bob McDougall and first flight low net, Al McDonald. Second flight winners were; low gross, Ralph Kingswell; low net, George Bolton. Third flight, low gross, Gary Chamber and low net, Ralph Bron. First second and third flight low net winners were; Ticker Mero, Bill Yongblut and Les Thompson. Ladies' night winners were: first flight, Rosemary Armstrong and Joyce Bolton. Mary Lynn Telford, Dorothy Bogie and Ellen Connelly won second flight. Marlene McDougall and Betty Helesic won the third flight with Gwen Trebish and Marion Harris winning the fourth flight. Bridge scores A 12 and a half table Mitchell game was played at the Goderich Duplicate Bridge Club on August 7 with Mary Donnelly directing. This game was a qualifying round for the Grand National Pairs. The next round will be held in London during September. Overall winners and first place finishers of the East-West Division were Verna Worthy and Jean Cook with 183 points. Father Ed Garvey and Archie Hamilton placed second with 180 points. • Joanne Duckworth and Lee Ryan were third with 163 while Edna Overholt and Anna Godfrey were fourth with 159.5. Eleanor Erskine and Mary Donnelly took first place in the North-South Division with 181.5 points. Barb Howe and Marion Lane were second with 156. Cathy McDonald and Pat Stringer tied with Mary Phillips and Frank Laverty for third and fourth place. (photo by Anne Narejko) Dau scores three goals The Marauders fell 'victim to Sherwood Gallow earning two assists and Madge and Express' offensive attack on August 7 in Thompson each picked up one assist each. men's ball hockey action. Express defeated the Marauders 8-3. Express 'jumped to a quick 2-0 lead with goals by Trevor Erb and Tim Lewis. John. Thompson and Phil Wood assisted on the first goal while Erb and Thompson assisted on Lewis' goal. The Marauders came within one goal when' Dau teammed•rup with Dan Boyce and Dale Duncan. Terry Beaii quickly nullified the goal as he scored with Brent Williamson and Denis Kerr assisting. Less than a minute later, Kerr scored a goal of his own to give his team a 4-1 lead. Williamson and Bean assisted. The first period ended with an unassisted goal by Dau. With only 1:08 gone in the second period, Kerr scored his second goal of the game. Williamson picked up his third assist of the night and Darryl Madge earned his first assist. Bean scored another goal, before the Marauders Dau scored his . third goal. Assisting on the Express goal was Lewis and Wood, Smith and Stoddart assisted on the Marauders' goal. Express ended the game with two quick goals, winning 8-3. Thompson and Williamson scored the final goals with The Rink Rats edged past Sherwood Express 4-3 during men's ball hockey action last Thursday. Express had jumped out to a 2-0 lead within the first two minutes of play, but the powerful Rink Rat offence soon took over. Pete Willems opened the scoring after 14 seconds of play after taking a pass from John Thompson. A few minutes later Tim Lewis made it 2-0 for Express. Brent Williamson assisted. Rob Standen came .back to score for the Rink Rats with the assistance of Dan Mailett and Rob MacDonald. Mailett evened the score at two all after taking a pass from Standen. Also assisting on the play was Roy Fisher. Kevin Meriam gave the Rink Rats the lead at the 8:44 mark when he scored an unassisted goal. The Rink Rats continued to score during the opening minutes of the second period. Paul Kelly put the Rats up by two when he combined with teammates. Standen and MacDonald. The final goal of the game was scored by Express at the 11:33 mark in an attempt to comeback. Thompson scored the final goal, as the Rink Rats won 4-3. Assisting on Thompson's goal was Phil Wood.
