Participants from all over the county displayed and demonstrated crafts from knitting, quilting and rug hooking to wood carving, doll -making and oil painting. Dorothy ( D.A.) MacLennan had her daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Heffernan of London and her son Finlay MacLennan visiting with her on the weekend. Mrs. Barbara Shepperd of Paris ( Five Oakes) was home on the weekend with her parents, Charles and Mayme and her brother and sister, Kennie and Elizabeth. Congratulations to Finlay MacDonald on making his one -hundred -mile walk a week ago. He reports he didn't have any after- effects. Cecil and James Webster of Waterloo, sons of Wellington and Kae Webster, have now returned to Waterloo after their two- week holidays. Finlay MacDonald had his steam engine in the parade on Saturday at Mildmay. About 25 neighbors and friends gathered at the home of Ross and Jean MacKenzie in Goderich to wish them well in their new home, after they had moved from the farm. Ross and .Jean were given a patio table and four chairs. Betty Moncrief organized the affair, which took place on Friday evening. A number of the Dan MacDonald clan stayed at the MacDonald home in Lochalsh on tht weekend. As a special outing, the ('lover Valley I )irt Diggers, accompanied by Mayme Wilkins, toured the gardens of all the members of the club on Wednesday,' August The members also saw Marj McLean's garden and her flowers which are beautiful and well maintained., Donna Arnold then conducted a crossword puzzle on last meeting's material. Liz Wilkins conducted a scavenger hunt using weeds and all members did very well. The members then went to Fran Elphick's home to view her garden. After practising the judging of vegetables, Fran helped each member make her own strawflower corsage to wear at Achievement Day. The members were reminded to bring their finished books to Fran's by August 15. CKNX -Radio to receive award The Hon. Alan W. Pope, Minister of Natural Resources will be presenting CKNX radio with an outstanding public service award on Thurday, August 16, 1984. The award is made in appreciation for CKNX's contribution to the promoting of natural resources in the community through co- operation with the Wingham District Office in the production of the "All Outdoors" radio program.
