LOOKING BACK
Holmes has received two carloads of lime
and'the sound of the trowel is again heard in
town. Masons are now putting in the
foundation of the cloak factory building. The
bricklayers have started work on the
dwelling of Richard Parsons on Stanley

satisfactorily.
The Civic Holiday was generally observed
on the weekend and its great feature was
picnics. Benmiller and neighbourhood had
many parties; the Black Hole and
surrounding. bush echoed all day long with
the merry chat of berry pickers. The Point
Farm had many visitors as had Menesetung
Park and Black's Point.
William Ervine, light in weight and small
in stature, unloaded for William Lee on
Tuesday morning 231/2 tons of lump coal in
21 2 hours. He shoveled the whole lot himself,
a record which would' be hard to beat. He
made a fraction over 65 cents an hour.
The rainy period of July was unusually
long and interfered considerably with the
ice cream and livery business.
