Free day use at Point Farms August 6
The Point Farrn Hotel was a popular.pic-
nic spot for the residents of Huron County
during the 1870s and 1880s. 'Back then,
visitors were admitted free to the grounds.
Fun and relaxation was the order of the day.
The proprietor of the hotel, J.J. Wright,
organized badminton and croquet matches
and scavenger hunts were also popular. If
you needed refreshment, oranges and.
bananas were available at five cents each.

gone. But on Monday, August 6, in Celebra-

DECISION
Bluewater TV Cable Ltd. Decision CRTC
84-600. Goderich, Clinton, Vanastra and
Holmesville, Ont. Pursuant to public
notice CRTC 1983186 dated 17 August
1983, the Commission denies the
application by the licensee of the
broadcasting receiving undertaking
serving the communities noted above,
to add the carriage of CHCH-TV
Hamilton and CITV-TV Edmonton,
received via satellite from the CANCOM
network and the related proposed
increase in maximum monthly
subscriber fee from '0.00 to '9.60 to
cover the costs associated with the
4elivery of these signals. In its decision
authorizing CANCOM to distribute the 3
plus 1 U.S. network television signals
(Decision CRTC 83126 dated 8 March
1983), the Commission indicated that it
would not, as a general rule, permit
cable television licensees to distribute
the Canadian CANCOM signals, outside
of "core market" communities defined
by CANCOM, and noted by the
Commission in Decision CRTC 81-252
dated 14 April 1981. The question of
whether licensees situated outside of
core markets should be permitted to
carry the Canadian CANCOM signals,
other than in exceptional
circumstances, raises significant policy
implications. As outlined in Public
Notice CRTC 1984-13, the Commission is
currently reviewing its overall policy
regarding the cable carriage of distant
Canadian signals. Until it has completed
Its deliberations on this matter, the
Commission Is not prepared to approve
this proposal.
Can ad'a
began in August of 1983 and was co'trfpleted
in March of this year.
Under the make-work program,
approximately 25 positions were filled for 33
weeks. -
The split level addition will allow all
MVCA staff to work under the same roof.
The old office, a converted, two -room
school, was not large enough for all the •
Authority staff and was supplemented by
the use of a rented building in downtown
Wroxeter.
Following the opening ceremony,
everyone will have an opportunity to view
the new building. Stiff will be available to
discuss displays concerning, land use
planning, water management, conservation
areas and community relations.
