Recent appointees to the Board of Directors were confirmed at ,
the Company's annual meeting in June.
James A. Telfer a chartered accountant was until 1983 Ex-
ecutive Vice -President with Maple Leaf Mills Limited, and has a
career background related to food processing, marketing and
distribution. He is chairman of the Company's audit committee
and resides in Toronto. -
Robert John Paterson is Vice -President and Director of N.M.
Paterson & Sons Limited of Thunder Bay. Paterson operates a
fleet of bulk grain carriers on the Great Lakes and grain elevators
in Western Canada.
Goderich Elevators operate modern export and domestic grain
terminals at the Port of Goderich, Ontario.

Volunteer amirecia ion night held at Huron Centre

CLINTON - Volunteer Apprecia-
tion Night was held on July 14, at the
Huron Day Centre. The volunteers were
treated to a barbecue and fashion show by
the staff and summer students, followed by
the awards presentations by the volunteer
co-ordinators, Lois Fitzgerald and Karen
Scruton.
The following volunteers either started as
volunteers since January 1st or are "Special
volunteers" and give of their time or exper-
tise on a short term basis: from Seaforth,
Bryan Williams, Marion Primeau, Gail
McKenzie; from Goderich, Dianne Ladd,
Hazel McCreath, Betty O'Rourke, Bobo,
Groves; from Blyth, Pat Bylsma, Murray
Souch; from Londesboro, Bob Thompson;
from Vanastra, ' Ralph Guertin, Mary
Deveau, Carol Dixon; from Exeter, Wilma
Kleinhaar, Bev Teeter;. from Clinton, Ann
Dykstra, Marg Wright, Vi Howes, Mary Van
Den Elzen, Marion Peck, Karen Uyl, Don
McQuinney, Pan Uyl, Ruby Kumm; from
Brussels, Pat Watson, Sharon Warwick.
Volunteers who have given one year of
service were: Viola Riley, Elmer Rivers
from the Seaforth area; Liz Durand,
Bayfield; Jo Guillen, Mount Carmel; Mable
Price and Charlotte Norman, Holmesville
area; Willa Rathwell, Varna; Marion Hill,
Brucefield.
Volunteers who have given two years of
service include: Irene Easton, Bayfield;
Gordon Finnigan, Goderich; Eileen Town-
send, Alice Reid and Mae Young from the
Seaforth area; Donna Klopp from Zurich;
June McCowan and Betty Dready from Clin-
ton.
Volunteers who have given three years of
service are Ken McDougall of Vanastra and
Willy Brehm of Clinton. •
Volunteers who have given four years of
service include: Jim Allaway of Vanastra;
Mary Mueller, Jean Fleming and Helene
Regier of Mount Carmel; , Ellen Doyle of
Dublin.

Postma of Varna, Russel Alton of Goderich,
and Everett Snarling of Goderich, have
each helped at the Day Centre for the past
six years.
Benefit held for family
A large number of neighbours and friends
attended the social benefit evening last
Friday evening for Mr. and Mrs.
Kruzanowski, Andre and Cheri who recently
lost their home and belongings in a fire.
The evening was planned•by neighbours,
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer and Mr.
and Mrs. Maurice Bean.
Progressive euchre and crokinole was
enjoyed by young and old.
Dana Bean read an address to the family
welcoming them to the Auburn community
and wishing them success in the future.
Larry Plaetzer presented them with a
'purse of money. The Booster Club presented
Auburn T-shirts and many boxes of clothing
were also received.
Mr. Kruzanowski thanked Mr. and Mrs.
Plaetzer and Mr. and Mrs. Bean for their
kindness in organizing the evening and. all
their new friends for coming out.

Bert Daer or Blyth was the winner of the
Auburn and District Lions Club 50-50 draw
at the recent ball tournament.
Mrs. Karl Teichert of Goderich visited
last Friday with Mrs. Tom Johnston and
Miss Laura Philips.

Deer season dates for
1984 are announced
The 1984 deer seasons for Wingham
district were recently announced.
Unit 85 Huron County and Minto
Township in Wellington County) will have
archery season from October 15 to
November 4 and from November 9 to
December 9. A four-day shotgun and muzzle
loader season will be from November 5 to
November 8.
This is a controlled deer hunt in which all
participants must have their deer licence
validated by a special tag. Farmers and lan-
downers of 20.24 ha I 50 acres ) or more are
eligible to receive a tag. Other Ontario
residents must enter theil• names in a lot-
tery type draw for a limited number of
valida..ion tags.

Applications for this hunt will be available
from the Wingham District Office after to-
day August I. The application deadline for
the draw is August 31. Farmers and lan-
downers should apply before October 26.
Controlled deer hunts have been held in
Huron County. since 1980. Nine hundred and
eighty -five hunters received tags in 1983 and
191 deer were harvested. The largest deer
harvested was approximately 164 kg ( 361
pounds live weight.
Details on the 1984 deer seasons in Ontario
are available from any District Office of the
Nlinistr -of Natural Resources. as well as
most sporting goods stores and other licence
issuers.
