Society surpasses goal
The Southwestern District of the Cana-
dian Cancer Society has surpassed its fund
raising goals for this year's campaign,
District Campaign chairman Morley Taylor
has announced.
• The 1984 objective had been set at
$1,200,000 for the distribt, which encom-
passes Elgin, Huron, Kent, Lambton,
London -Middlesex and Oxford counties.
Over $1,251,00 has been raised to date, with
almost three months still remaining in the
current campaign year. The overall provin-
cial objective is $13.2 million.
"We're running about 15 per cent ahead of
last year at this time," Taylor said. "The
results -are a real tribute to the hard work of
our unit organizers, and especially our
volunteer canvassers, whose long hours
have been so well rewarded by•the response

of the public. It's been a total effort on
everyone's part."
Fund raising activities have included
"Great Rides", daffodil sales, teas, fashion
shows, and the main door-to-door can-
vasses. "The number of events throughout
the district increased this year, and I think
that helped to put us over the top," Taylor
added.
While most of the funds collected will sup-
pprt cancer research through the National
Cancer Institute of Canada, Taylor said that
approximately 30 per cent of the money
raised. will be spent in the areas of patient
services and education. '
"These local, programs are not as well
known to the public as cancer research, but
they are integral parts in our overall efforts,
to battle cancer and its effects."

Group to take legal action
against Carnpognol:o
Dear Editor,
CAMPAIGN LIFE will be taking legal ac-
tion against Iona Campagnolo for defama-
tion.
We, the supporters of CAMPAIGN LIFE,
have been accused of sending death threats
to. her. This malicious allegation isi•com-
pletely untrue and will not be tolerated.
CAMPAIGN LIFE is an organization of peo-
ple who, through the political, process, try to
protect every human life ( including that of
Iona Campagnolo.) from conception to
natural dcath.
Ms. C.ampagnolo. the President of the
LETTERS
Liberal Party of Canada, has stooped to
muckraking by false allegation. Such
behaviour, by the self-styled "party for all
Canadians" is irresponsible and under-
mines our political process.

quoting all the' facts
impossible says Barney
Dear.Edrtor,
To "quote all facts" relevant to the nanxe
"Jehovah" would be an impossibility in a
`Letter to the Editor'. However, the writer
who suggests that this be done makes one
mis-statement of fact when he says: "This
name appears in the Bible for the first time
in the 6th chapter of Exodus."
The tetragrammaton (JHVH in English)
from which the name "Jehovah" is actually
derived (JeHoVaH) appears in the original
Hebrew more than 6,000 times, beginning at
Genesis 2:4. This is attested to in STRONG'S
EXHAUSTIVE CONCORDANCE OF THE
BIBLE, pages 613 to 634.
Another fact: . The Catholic EN-
CYCLOPEDIA, on page 329, has this to say:
"JEHOVAH, The proper name of God in the
Old Testament (6,000 times in round
numbers)." So, why not use it?
• In addition to that, Jesus instructed in his

very first petition: "Hallowed be thy
name". Have you ever wondered why Jesus
put the `hallowing', or sanctifying of God's
name FIRST in that prayer? Second to that
name, he put the Kingdom, Whose
Kingdom?
The answer is obvious; Jehovah's
'Kingdom under the resurrected and
glorified Christ Jesus, by which Jehovah
will bless obedient mankind and vindicate
his name and word, of which God inspired
Isaiah to write: "So shall my word be that
goeth forth out of my mouth; it shall note
return unto me void, but it shall accomplish
that which I please, and it shall prosper in
the thing whereto I sent it."
Should Christians let a Jewish .
superstition keep them from acknowledging
the "God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ"? I John 20:17, Ephesians 1:3 ).
Sincerely yours,
C.F. Barney.
