Ashfield receives grant
Ashfield Township Council has received a
grant of approximately $1,100 from the Pro-
vince of Ontario to help provide a free
Bicentennial celebration for Ashfield and,
former Ashfieldites.
This celebration will be held Saturday Ju-
ly 28 beginning at 7 p.m.
Jim Reed of W-5, formerly of Dungannon,
will be master of ceremonies for a two hour
variety program. There'll be trios, quartet -

There were 10 tables of play at' the
Seniors' bi-weekly euchre last Wednesday
evening. High lady was Lois Haggitt. Low
lady was Margaret Mole. Mel Jones was
high man and low score was Jim.Errington.
It seems people are enjoying the euchres
through the summer. The senkirs of the area
can enjoy a pot luck picnic on August' 1st at
the Seniors' Centre.
• Congratulations to Ken and Marie Petrie
of Kincardine on the occasion -of their 25th
wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 21.
Ken was raised on the sixth of Ashfield, a
son of Bill Petrie of Goderich and the late
Mrs. Petrie.
The community was shocked on Sunday to
hear of the death of Dan McInnis at the age
of 47 due to a heart attack. He is survived by
his wife, Bev ( Dickinson) McInnis, two
sons, David and Dale, two daughters Debbie
Young and Tanya at home and two grand-
daughters. Sympathy is extended.
Company on Sunday with Jim and
tes, bands, bagpipes, violins, accordions,
guitars; saxaphones •and' piano selections;
highland, step, tap and jazz dancing; recita-
tions, songs and jokes all provided between
the hours of 7 to 9 by talent from Ashfield.
Boy's Orchestra will supply music for
dancing from 9 to 1. Lunch will be provided.
This program will be held under the authori-
ty of a special occasion permit. Don't miss it

and husband, Ted Henry.

Visiting with George and Kaye Fennell at
their summer cottage are Mario and Jackie

their daughter, Sheree's birthday. They in-

Church News
Communion was observed at Christ
Anglican Church in Port Albert on Sunday
morning. The Reverend Robert Crocker
conducted the service and spoke from St.
Matthew's Gospel.
The Reverend Douglas Pitts of Bayfield
(retired) will be in charge of the services
during the month of August and the first
week in September
It was announced that the bazaar will be
held at the church Saturday, July 28

HOLMESVILLE - Worship Service was
held in Holmesville United Church Sunday
morning. During the service Hugh and
Marty Lobb sang. Richard Wyatt and
Catherine Anderson became members of
the church. Irvine Tebbutt and Stewart Far-
quhar received the offering.
The Enterprising Seniors will meet at the
Community Centre in Hohnesville Thursday
evening June 26 at 8 p.m.
