Fascination
celebrates
anniversary
More happy memories were made in the
Forester's Hall, Benmiller as 61 people
gathered to celebrate the 25 years that Court
Fascination has been in existence.
()n July 26, 1959, 27 women of the area
formed the court, and in June of 1984, 15
women were present to receive their 25 year
pins from Norm Hill, Member of the
Executive Council, Head Office, Brantford
and Gerry Ginn, District 34 Deputy:
Those original members present were
Kay Baer, Aisle Fisher, Eleanor Fisher,
Phyllis Fisher, Jean Ginn, Enid Jewell,
Audrey Kernighan, Mary Lamb, Hermie
McCabe, Joan MacPhee, Evelyn Merrill,
Bernice Moore, Betty Moore, Phyllis
Pitblado and Isabelle Sturdy. They were
also presented with pink rose corsages froth
Court Fascination and red carnations from
Court Benmiller.
The Reverend Stanley MacDonald of
Hensall, High Chaplain, gave the blessing
before a bountiful srhorgasbord was served,
The lucky chair prize. was won by Ann
Agar I Court Constantine l ; lucky cup winner
was Kay Baer; and the anniiersary closest
to July 26 was Ann Turton.
The highlight of the evening was a very
witty verse composed and read by Phyllis
Cosy
the events of the lodge's
history.
Brother N. Hill, assisted by President
Phyllis Cox, Past President 'Suzanne
Mcllwain, Chaplain Isabelle Sturdy and
Guards Jean Ginn and Audrey Kernighan
retired the old flag and dedicated the new
Forester's flag.
A quilt, the product of a year' planning,
embroidery and quilting, was won by
Isabelle Sturdy - a faithful member
throughout the 25 years. ! Other draw prizes
were won by Ann Agan Alice Rodges and
Joan MacPhee.
After a rousing singing of, "The Old Lodge
Gals - They Ain't What They Used to Be',
"0 Canada" was sung and all went home
looking forward to the future work of Court
Fascination.
Already the next 25 years have begun with
a donation to the girls' ball team and plans
for the lunch booth at Colborne's
Bicentennial Celebrations on July 21. These
court activities are symbolic of the mandate
of Court Fascination, service to the
rommnnity and fundraising events to
promote charitable acts - especially in the
field of cancer research.
